Guest guest
Sounds like " die off " to me. Die off is when the bad bacteria in your system is dying due to the fact that they aren't getting what they need to proliferate. As they are dying, they trigger weird responses in your body. Flu like symptoms are really common during this phase. Us people with IBS/IBD/Gut Issues usually have a very unbalanced amount of good versus bad bacteria in our systems. For me, I had mild flu like symptoms and terrible cravings for illegal carbs. I actually dreamed I was cooking, eating and smelling these illegals. The dreams were so vivid and real, I would get up and check the kitchen to make sure I didn't prepare it in my sleep. I could smell the brownies baking in the oven in my sleep. It was very hard to deal with. For die off you can try taking epsom salt baths (dissolve one cup of epsom salt in a hot bath and sit in it as long as you can) and take activated charcoal. If this much epsom salt makes you react immediately, try less. Only stay in the bath as long as it's comfortable to you. This is the way I take the charcoal: I boil some water. Add the contents of 1 capsule of charcoal to a 1 pint mason jar. Add the boiling water to the mason jar and let the charcoal settle to the bottom. When you can tolerate it, drink it. I drink the entire contents. You can do this two times per capsule. You can make more if desired using 2 cups boiled water per 1 capsule of activated charcoal. Epsom salt and charcoal both help your body detox. Epsom salt pulls it out your pores and the charcoal removes it from your system internally. The reason you don't want to take the charcoal capsules is because the charcoal can be irritating to an already inflamed gut. Hope this helps!!! Hang in there; it does get better!!! Can anybody assist with this? If you have issues with the soup, go with the meat and peeled, cooked veggies! That's what I did! I started after emergency gall bladder surgery, and was in NO shape to make soup. My husband can burn water. I was able to tell him how to roast a roast, and he could peel and slice zucchini. Guest guest
I've had the same issue... seemed it all made me bloat! Long, long story short- have you been tested for c. diff? > >Anyway I'm starting out on the intro diet, but > >the bone broth causes me bloating and discomfort > >- break out into sweats etc. If etat just meat > >and veggies - I have less issues. > > > >Can anybody assist with this? > > If you have issues with the soup, go with the > meat and peeled, cooked veggies! Guest guest
It seems that any food with a high fluid content causes this in me, including the yogurt. Does this mean I am not tolerating the yogurt?
Guest guest
It turned out that most of the foods on the list recommended for the intro. diet cause reactions from my digestive or immune system, so I substituted other foods that are better for me. The purpose of the intro. diet, as I understand it anyway, is to eat soft, easy-to-digest foods. Clear liquids are the easiest of all foods to consume when you are in pain and digestive distress, but when you start to eat solid foods, like the intro. diet, you choose soft and easy foods. My body requires a different set of foods that are easiest for it to deal with. I still choose SCD-permitted foods, of course, but select those that are easiest to digest. I don’t have broth or soup on my intro. diet. I did at first, but I’d been on a clear liquid diet for 6 to 8 months before I started SCD and my body stopped tolerating soups and broths, built up a sensitivity. So the soups and broth made me a whole lot worse. So when I’m on the intro. diet because of digestive distress I eat things like scrambled eggs, baked white-meat chicken, applesauce, apple juice (homemade), Italian green beans if my symptoms aren’t too bad (my digestion does very well with this type of veggie). After 3 years of no soup or broth I can now tolerate one serving per week, but I still get a bit of a reaction. Bloating is normal for me since I have functional digestive disorders in my upper GI, so I am more concerned by the nausea and right upper quadrant pain that soups can trigger – not to mention breaking out in hives… So once a week is my limit for soups, and I usually go two weeks between servings. So, in my opinion, eat those foods that are easiest for your body. Substitute other SCD-permitted foods that are soft, easy to digest and don’t trigger worse digestive symptoms or immune responses. Guest guest
Maybe you're just not used to consuming lots of liquids or fluids...it could be just filling up your stomach and thats why you're bloated. You could always just limit to one bowl a day or make the soup with less liquid and see how it goes. I don't know about the yogurt, but if you're consuming a lot of that as well, you should probably cut down on that. Any bit of yogurt is beneficial. It could be die-off, I get lots of bloating with die-off, but that's one of my main symptoms anyway, so it took me a long time to realize this Since you're in the beginning stages, and this sounds like a new symptom for you, it's very likely the bloating is part of the die off. I'd say do and eat whatever makes you feel more comfortable, that's what I've learned. No need to put your body through any unnecessary stress! Guest guest
Sounds like the liquids are diluting your digestive enzymes. Try supplementing with something like DigestGold. > > Hi all, > > I have bad gut issues, caused after an intestinal illness followed up by multipe antibiotic treatments. > > Symptoms include very inflammed intestines, diorreah, brain fog, fatugue etc - all the normal stuff. > > Anyway I'm starting out on the intro diet, but the bone broth causes me bloating and discomfort - break out into sweats etc. If etat just meat and veggies - I have less issues. > > Can anybody assist with this? >
