Guest guest
Hi Mara, I had a nasty intestinal infection which landed me in hospital. SO much diorreah and mucous - nasty. Didnt feel right after relase from hospital, was treated again and again and again with broad spectrum antibiotics sometime 3 together at the same time - things just got worse and worse. I don't have a diagnosed bowel disorder - I have all the classic symptoms of a fungal infection, and given my history whatever nasties are in me - are goign to be those resistant to the anti-biotics that I took. Guest guest
Check in with your gastroenterologist. Pain isn’t the usual symptom associated with being on a candida-elimination version of SCD. Changes in stool color and texture is common, and episodes of more diarrhea or more constipation -- but pain, particularly in the places you describe, isn’t the norm. Best to have a doctor check things out. Of course there is always a chance that a food or supplement is triggering this kind of reaction. Quite often it takes a while for the body to react to something. What supplements are you taking? What foods are you eating? If you list them we might notice something that raises red flags. Kim M. In addition to this my bowel movments have turned to water - greeny, yellowy colour. I dont normally go more than twice a day - on occasion I have had to go urgently This level of pain is not constant, it seems to last for a day or two - then the level of pain will reduce for a day or so and my stools will be formed a little better - but then it always come back again. Of course gut pain and poor stools aren't new to me - otherwise I wouldnt be doing this diet, but the pain and watery stools are certainly worse now. Any thoughts? I recommend trying that. Also - for the burning pain, I'd try switching out the tahini see if that helps - and also get ahold of some digestive enzymes. Take this test to determine what kind of enzymes you may lack: http://www.enzymedica.com/pdf/Enzyme%20Deficiency%20Test.pdf Mara
Guest guest
Pain in that region is one of the two spots I have pain in. My doctor said they can't explain why Crohn's patients have pain there (I'm not sure what your diagnosis is). When I have pain there (like this morning a little - I had nut butters yesterday), I know I'm symptomatic. I have Crohn's with constipation though. I have only had one tiny bowel movement since last Thursday and that was yesterday. When I finally do go to the bathroom, it will be a lot and very mushy. As long as I don't get pain in my terminal ileum, I don't go back to intro; however, when the pain starts there (lower right side kind of close to the hip), I go intro immediately for a couple days and reintro foods slowly but not as slow as the beginning. I do that to make sure I still tolerate the foods I tolerated before. As I sit here I can feel that tightening and burning around my navel. I also ate some banana-coconut flour pancakes for breakfast yesterday morning and the almond/peanut butter in the afternoon. I think that was just too much fiber for one day. If I take it slow, the pain usually passes in a day or so. So, for me the pain usually indicates I ate something that my guts didn't like. I guess it's possible that it's die off too. So, maybe you're eating something your body doesn't like that much. I had an on and off thing at first with the pain. Broccoli caused an immediate reaction where spinach waited a day or so. That's why it took me so long to progress to new foods; as soon as I felt that pain, I knew I had done something wrong and I felt it a lot the first 6 months on the diet. Guest guest
For me, I would remove the Tahini and tomatoes. Tahini and tomatoes both made me react quickly. Wait a few days and intro them back in separately and at least 4 or 5 days apart. I still can't eat tahini because sesames are seeds and high in something my body doesn't like (lingin or something). My body just didn't like tomatoes for about the first 2 years on the diet. Now I can eat them a couple times a week but always peeled, deseeded and cooked. I can have raw tomatoes on occasion. Guest guest
Hi , Burning gut pain. Boy, I know about burning gut & back pain that comes on together, and greenish/yellow poop! Were you tested for c. diff (Clostridium Difficile)? I got it 3 years ago from taking antibiotics, and even tho they gave me Vancomycin (the " BIG GUNS " ) for the c. diff, and even though I tested negative 3 times after taking the Vanco, I had greenish-yellowish very soft BMs for many, many months. My burning pain was in my upper right stomach, kind of near the duodenum, which radiated backward into my mid-back causing a terrible back pain. A chiropractor showed me a " map " of where the nerves in the stomach are connected to the spine, and sure enough, where my stomach pain was located was exactly connected by nerves to the area of my spine that hurt so badly. I don't know if this will work for you, but drinking the juice of a half squeezed lemon with warm water took my burning pain away in my stomach, and eventually in my back. It took me a while to get up the courage to drink it because it didn't make sense to me to drink something acidic if my stomach was burning, but I finally tried it and it was like putting out a fire. Go figure! My grandpa used to drink apple cider vinegar (ACV) when his stomach burned and he swore by it. The ACV didn't work for me, but the lemon drink does. It also helps with the yeast too. I'm also on the candida version of SCD. Eventually, the SCD will help your stools become more consistently formed, as it has for me, but you might want to get tested for c. diff if you haven't already, because c. diff really needs to be taken care of. Good luck, and I hope you feel better soon! Guest guest
I'd pull the coconut oil and tahini first. See if things improve when you remove one or the other or both. Sounds like you might have some intestinal ulcerations. I'd still check in with your gastroenterologist, you might need some tests, but while you're waiting you can experiment with your foods and supplements. In some cases a prescription medication might help your body get a start on healing, so it can help to have a meeting with your doctor. What supplements are you taking? When you're testing foods, it helps to fall back to the basics : very soft, easy to digest foods, cooked well. Stop all supplements. If you're on prescription medications, check with your doctor first. Don't use seasonings other than salt; hold off on dairy (if you're eating any of that). If your symptoms are particularly severe or troublesome, then you can fall back to clear liquids for a day or two, then add back some solid foods that are soft and easy to digest. If things improve, then you know it was one or more of the items you removed causing the problem. Add back one thing at a time. I always start by adding foods first, supplements last. Kim M. Guest guest
Hi , It looks like you have gotten some good advice already - I just wanted to add, that I get this burning side pain that radiates toward the back, and I find that it now comes when I eat things I can't yet tolerate. I was getting it pretty bad before starting SCD, but it's much more under control now that I am on the diet. Anyhow, I can handle quite a bit of " advanced " foods, but tomatoes give me the WORST burning gut/side pain that lasts for 24 hours each time. Also, too much coconut activates it too. My stool gets really loose with these foods too. I just went to a very simple smoothie/squash/chicken diet for a week and had absolutely no pain finally last week! And I have NO problems with fruit or honey. I wish you the best in figuring out what is causing you the pain. Thanks, SCD 12 Weeks > > Hi All, > > I have been following the cut down Candida version of this diet for about 8 weeks now. > > 2 or so week after starting have been getting very strong burning pain above and below the belly button as well as strong lower back pain. Chicken, Lamb and Fish soups, with some carrots and zucchini (courgette). I have been eating Chicken every day for a long time now - is it possible to react to meat? Can you eat beef, bison, turkey, fish, and lamb for a day or two to give the chicken a rest? Guest guest
As previously posted on Saturday night I had my first well formed stool since I cant remember when. Later that night whilst bed, I wokeup and had to go to the loo again, this time my stool was water. The good part about that is the following day I had MUCH less gut pain and bloating - quite a pleasant relief. Now the bad news - Its now 2pm Monday and I haven't been to the toilet in 36 hours and my gut and back is building and building. SO i have gone from diarrhea to redoing the intro diet and am now constipated, hmmmm can't win. Any suggestions?

It's actually a sign that something good is beginning to happen internally, even though it can be uncomfortable in the short term. I would just stay on intro - though if it continues to be uncomfortable, I'd eventually add in the protocol for C. Mara.
