Guest guest
Mike, I was definitely more swollen on one side then the other. My surgeon decided to put in an extra screw on my right side for extra support so that is why - maybe you also got an extra? I only had lower so I didn't have all the numbness. And yeah I also had a bloody nose the first couple days from the breathing tubes and stuff which sucked but it clears up pretty quick. But anyways, sounds like everything went well and all of your descriptions sound perfectly normal. And it definitely gets better fast so don't worry about that. Hope you have a good recovery =) Val
Guest guest
Mike, Good luck on your recovery. I haven't had even the braces yet, so I could talk with you about the swelling. I bruise easily and imagine I will look like I have been beaten. I'm sure your recovery will be speedy. - -- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " mithongsallin " <mithongsallin@y...> wrote: > SO I went into the hospital and had lefort I and BSSO which started at > 2 pm yesterday (Friday). Guest guest
Mike, Good luck with the recovery. I'm going in for a leforte 1 max. osteotomy (no bsso) on Wednesday so I'm interested in hearing about your progress. Guest guest
Hi Mike so glad the surgery when well. My daughters (Sam) op was 2 weeks ago and shes doing really well.I must say I am plesantly surprised at her good recovery. The first week is difficult and she found the best place to sleep was on the sofe as it held her head higher and supported her back at the same time. Good you are not banded or wired... Sam was able to drink from a glass and didn't need straws or syringe. Have a look at Zip and Squeeze products they may help you. You will get a bit fed up but when you feel a little better get friends to call as that really helped Sam. She went out yesterday for the first time to the cinema. She says getting used to her jaw as it is now is really strange and everyday we are seeing changes as the swelling goes down. Keep posting to let us know how you are doing. Guest guest
Best news: Yep. It will get better. Worst news: Nobody can predict, with any accuracy anyhow, when. Middling news: If you are very, VERY careful, you may find that q- tips, dunked in hydrogen peroxide, used very VERY gently, may help with the troubles in your nose. Do not go digging a trench. More like making a most delicate, wee furrow in a pile of most delicate custard, if you get the difference. But that may help you breathe. You most definitely DO NOT want to injure any tissues or stitches that may be there. Not unusual at all to have more swelling on one side than on other. But as always, your doc is your best source of info about whether anything is wrong. C. > SO I went into the hospital and had lefort I and BSSO which started at > 2 pm yesterday (Friday).
