Guest guest
That message means that the group's photo tummy is full. The moderator needs to do some maintenance (delete photos). > Just wondering, because I get this " error-group check " message. > > Thanks, >
Guest guest
It just means that the photo section is too full. You can post, and look at, photos in the file section. But I'll send a message to Ray, the moderator, to ask him to tend it. Guest guest
Good morning everyone, Sorry if the photo section got that full, I was away of the computer as my cat required medical attention. Ok, back the matter at hand. Every 2 or 3 days, I open up the photos section, check every new entry, and remove the full size. Usually, one or two pictures are oversized. This time, 3 members alone had posted 12MB of pictures. Now, you may not realize this, but the group's total storage for pictures is 30MB. Which means, 3 members had used up 40% of the storage space! And this morning, I had to delete pictures, not only full size versions, but entire pictures, before I could do anything. So, let's review the basic rules for photo storage : - Take 2 or 3 of your best shots. It's nice to see your country house, the neighboor's dog and your 1971 xmas gifts but with the finite storage space we have, let's preserve space. One front, one profile and perhaps another one showing your new (or new to become) smile. - On your computer, it's ok to have pictures of 500 Kb, but here, on Yahoo!, it's not so ok. Just to make sure everyone here understands, we have 30MB of space (thirty megabytes). 1MB (one megabytes) = 1000 Kb (one thousand kilobytes). If someone posts a picture of 500kb (and believe me, this is not unusual at all), we'll have space for 60 pictures and that's gonna be it. - If you need to show something special (a special retainer, the high-tech facility you got your surgery at, etc.) it's ok to post the picture here. Just remember to come back and remove it a days later. - Your photo space is temporary because of the nature of the space requirements that's being imposed. If you need a permanent storage space, consider external service such as PBase. There are free alternatives, such as http://www.pixentral.com/ I may sound severe but that's not my intention. I just want to make sure every member has an equal chance of showing her/his pictures here. We're all proud of what we achieved and showing pictures of before & after is one way gaining more moral support, especially if you live far and alone. moderator
