Guest guest
Hi, I've only been following the SCD diet for a couple of months now and I was hoping someone could tell me a specific brand of butter that was legal. I was using a bit of country crock to butter a pan but stopped because I read it contained milk. I was fine not using butter but I stumbled upon some recipes I wanted to try that called for a whole cup full. I bought this brand called earth balance soy free because it said gluten and dairy free but when I got it home I read it was derived from corn... and corn is illegal... help! Guest guest
Hi Alyssa and welcome to SCD. Butter has to be the real thing- from a cow, not manufactured, and should contain only cream and if desired, salt. Anything that contains " flavors " or other additives is not legal. Guest guest
Thank you for the info. Have you found a brand in grocery stores that adhere to that standard? It would be helpful to know of some brands also. I've looked at many and I see a paragraph sized amount of ingredients every time. Again thanks for any help. > > > > Hi, I've only been following the SCD diet for a couple of months now and I was hoping someone could tell me a specific brand of butter that was legal. Guest guest
I don't know where you live, but I have had good luck with store brand " organic butter " from Teeter, Lowe's, Trader Joes. Land O lakes SALTED butter (unsalted has flavorings added). I am sure Whole Foods and Fresh Market also carry butter. It needs to be stick butter. Anything in a tub will have additives. Hope this helps, PJ > > > > > > Hi, I've only been following the SCD diet for a couple of months now and I was hoping someone could tell me a specific brand of butter that was legal.
