Guest guest
HI Jo, I had upper jaw surgery, major nose reconstruction, cheek bone surgery and a bone graft done May 05. I have had a string of problems since my surgery and I am waiting for an MRI and CAT scan so the MS can see what's going on inside. I have had another surgery Aug 05 to drain out the infection etc which didn't work. But we are also looking into the possibility of removing the current hardware and possibly replacing them as my bones haven't healed yet! But the thaught of another surgery is more than enough for me, but if it gets rid of my pain, swelling and discomfort then I will do it. --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Guest guest
Hi Jo and , I feel so badly for both of you. Each of you has been through so much already, and now you are facing questionable situations for the future of your healing process. I have a similar situation with another surgery (not orthgnathic related), and it is frustrating and upsetting and a host of other emotions I run through regularly. I am holding out hope that each of you will find resolve with your situations really soon. I am glad you are going with the MRI scans, as this will probably give your OS better insight as to what is going on. I hope the news will be definitive enough that you feel doing the next step will bring you some closure with this. Will keep you both in thoughts and prayers. Hugs, Fran > HI Jo, > > I had upper jaw surgery, major nose reconstruction, cheek bone surgery and a bone graft done May 05. Guest guest
Hay , Thanks so much, oddly it's nice to hear that I am not alone, though I wish these challenges on no one. I had bad sinuses before...you know- knowing when the rain is coming before the alert on the weather, and when he went in to do my upper which was a lot (9mm) he noticed lots of Large polyps-grape sized he said and he removed them all, and corrected my deviated septim too...(who knew about any of this prior, not him, and NOT me either!) but while it made the initial heal tricky bec of the mucus and what not being banded and unable to blow my nose, it really helped my sinuses after I healed, before the screw pushing out...I smelled things like a BloodHound! (almost annoying to be honest;) almost! but things felt so good. The whole procedure was 6 hrs, 2 pts of blood (which I donated) and then ICU for 3 days. Home 3 wks 3 days, then open and back to work f/t. Then the pain started, fixed that and now this. So, I try ot be the trooper that they say I am...ironically my initial surgery was " perfect " , one of the best he has done to date...but whatever has happened since is LIFE I guess. I wear my retainer every day and nt...much as I can...try not to cry or do anything that will make my sinuses go off, like digging around through moldy basement things etc...heck my fiance wouldn't let me do ANYTHING for weeks/mths...and I am a Do-er...hate to sit and deligate. (silly right) but I am also not so good at waiting...so TRYING!! when do you get your results ? or maybe you didn't do the MRI/catscan yet? Why are you waiting...(I just re-read)...and how is your insurance handling this all? I have Vytra...they paid for round one, less genio (2 wks prior they resended their approval) and the second too, but I fear this time they may fight big time... thanks for being there...let's keep talking ok? Sharing is caring! (cheesey sure, but in this case, true and SO helpful!) Thanks JO > HI Jo, > > I had upper jaw surgery, major nose reconstruction, cheek bone surgery and a bone graft done May 05. Guest guest
Thanks Fran... I am doing all I can to not let the emotional side come into play yet...that's why I say I can't even consider it... the non-health side of this is multi-layered with huge challenges...and truly not AS important -my body is my vessel and that's all I have to get through all my days, so no question there, but I also need to eat-meaning not 'chew' but work and earn, I can't afford personally to be out again, don't have time to take, and this small company depends nearly entirely on me to survive and do not offer STD. So IF I have to handle this, I will, but dear god, I hope not. Thanks for your prayers...and hugs...SOOOOOOO appreciated! Guest guest
Thanks Sara...yeah it's not been easy, I still think worth it all sure...but tricky to fit real life issues into everyday life. The second one was ok, except it was a lot to handle and getting back to work after 4 days was intense. I am a recruiter and speak for a living, so no quiet desk time to recoup...but maybe things will work themselves out. I am still hoping it's sinus...bec it's not all the time that it hurts and not when I bite down...so?! praying indeed! Thanks for being there then AND now Sara (and the hug)...will update u! Guest guest
Hi Jo, I didn't have any problems with my sinuses before the surgery.I also had my nose done too and love it! My surgery lasted 14 hours, 4 days in ICU and 9 days in hospital I was off work for 4 months and back a week and off for a month. I live in the UK and there are waiting lists so I am waiting for my CT and MRI scan. I am badly swollen and in a lot of pain, but hopefully soon it will all be worth it! --------------------------------- Yahoo! for Good Click here to donate to the Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Guest guest
Wow...sounds like you have an understanding employer or some wonderful benefit plan...that's great. I have to call today to set up my follow up...still haven't downloaded the Catscan disc I have...I know I will read it enough to see things and bring up questions...honestly I don't want any more time to wonder or things to wonder about until I need to...inside I am spinning. Good thoughts and you can email me anytime directly too at jfloweroflifet@... if you like.
