I can really help you here. Madison uses the same Machine and we ran into

the same problems. We found out that the Machine has to be replaced once a year

to assure accuracy. Your assurance should cover a new machine every year ours

does. Also if you are getting erratic readings then DON " T USE THE TOES! Your

need to check keytones because if you get a really low reading and are

unsure if it's correct then check his urine. If he isn't spilling Keytones then

chances are the reading is off.

We have been told that Madison's sugars should stay between 80 and 130. Hope

all this helps.

Thanks Chrissy

our machine is only about two weeks old and it was checked in the ER with a

blood draw so I don't know that its the machine. Could his blood sugar be

that erratic ?

Yes we have checked ketones a couple of times. For those of you woith

babies in diapers when you were doing this...did you just keep a cotton ball in

their diapers so you could check when you needed? Or did you wait to see if

there was a low and then try to wait for him/her to go on the cotton ball? How

long will the ketones stay down?

thanks a ton!
