Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the November Surgery Support Group =). My name is Diane and I'm from Oregon, USA. I'll be having my surgery Nov. 17. I'm having lower and will know about the first of Nov. if I need upper, too. I get my surgical hooks on Tuesday. I was just filling out my pre-surgical paper work and it hit me that my surgery is in 3.5 weeks. It seemed so far away and now it seems to be coming quickly. I remember reading of other people who were a few weeks out and now they're many weeks post-op. I sure hope time flies for us! Good luck with your surgery. Please keep us posted pre and post-op. Diane, Oregon _____ From: orthognathicsurgerysupport [mailto:orthognathicsurgerysupport ] On Behalf Of vanessaktr Sent: Sunday, October 23, 2005 1:58 PM To: orthognathicsurgerysupport Subject: Another November surgery Hello All I've been reading the posts here for about six months, but this is my first post, as I have finally got a surgery date - 22nd November, and I got my hooks (called cleats in the UK) on Thursday. Reading everyone's posts has helped me so much so far, and also provided some relief to my poor friends, family and work colleagues who have had to listen to me going on about it all for almost three years! It has also helped me keep my problems in perspective when I read about what so many of you have been through. I'm 28 and live in Salisbury, in the UK. I'm having upper, lower and genio. I have an underbite, and a slight open bite. I've had my braces on for 16 months (and also had them as a teenager). I will be wired shut for at least six weeks - sure to be my healthiest Christmas and New Year ever! Anyway, I'll stop there before I ramble on, but I just wanted to introduce myself. Guest guest
Welcome , Sounds like we have similar surgeries coming up. I'll be having mine on Nov. 2nd. This board is fantastic! If you have any questions, there is always someone here that can give you some advice or know where to find it. Guest guest
Hi Diane, Thank you for your reply. At the moment, four weeks feels like forever but I know it will speed up quickly! My hooks are fine - they're just a whole new load of metal to get used to! - except for the fact that my top lip does tend to get stuck on them when I talk, which is slightly embarrasing! Good luck with your surgery too, and in the meantime good luck with your hooks and the decision on your upper. > > Hi , > > > > Welcome to the November Surgery Support Group =). Guest guest
Hello, na, it's completely understandable that you are talking about your upcoming surgery - you are excited and anxious and maybe just a wee bit scared! This is all very normal, considering you are going to have major jaw surgery in a few months. I hope your friends and family are trying to understand what you are going thru, and being considerate of your feelings. My surgery isn't until next June, and I talk about it alot too. I think that talking about it might help you cope with the stress of having surgery. If your family and friends don't want to hear about it anymore, just email me and WE will talk about it, okay? ~~~ Diane (Idaho) (dmd13cyto@...) --- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " snowboardgurl35 " <snowboardgurl35@y...> wrote: > > hi! > > my surgery is on december 22nd. i think i'm driving my friends and > family nuts talking about it so much! > > > > > > > > > > > Hello All > > > > > > > > I've been reading the posts here for about six months, but > this > > is > > > my > > > > first post, as I have finally got a surgery date - 22nd > November, > > > and I > > > > got my hooks (called cleats in the UK) on Thursday. Guest guest
, I am Hayley from Chicago, IL. I just had upper jaw surgery (17 post op) and honestly it went extemely well. Just be sure you have a superb surgeon because that can make all the difference in the world! Hope it all goes smoothly!
