Guest guest
I used to laboriously halve butternut and Danish squash to cook but now I'm much lazier. I just wash the squash, take the ice pick and poke some holes (maybe 8?), put it in a shallow pan like you'd pardon-the-expression bake a cake in, and add half an inch or so of water. Then I bake it at about 325 until tender, which means until you can poke it with a skewer or knife and it goes in easily. Let it cool a bit for easier handling. Then the peeling will come off easily, I scrape out the seeds and fiberish stuff in the middle, and it's ready to use. I like mine with butter or oil, honey maybe, and some cinnamon. Yes, you can cut them in half first, scrape out the seeds etc, and cook with the butter and cinnamon, but to me it's a whole lot more work that way. I am liking pureeing it very much, new experiment this fall. I'm getting over a stomach bug (or something) so back pretty much to Intro for a few days, and yesterday I pureed some cooked squash, half a banana, and a dollop of applesauce. Then I heated it up and it was really delicious! I will try it another time with a bit of nut milk and cinnamon. I need step by step instuctions of how to fix this stuff.. I did not know what squash looked like before I started SCD... I did purchase one and tried to cut it into thin slices and bake it on my stone.. But they were not cut even so they did not cook even.. There was no way to get 'Crisp " it was soft or burnt..LOL I want to try baked with cinnioman. Do I just cut it in half? Do I scoop out the seeds first? What temp? How long? put butter and cin on at the begining or later.?. Does it need to be in water? I have not idea how to fix this stuff but like the flavor I got when I cooked/burnt the first one.. Also, Does anyone know about Pau D' Arco Extract?... I am told it is a extract from the bark of a tree.. Instructions say to put 2 drops in water and drink 3 times a day for Intestinal Health. Ingredients: Distilled Water, Vegetable Glycerin and Grain Alcohol Contains no sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg, shellfish, or perservatives.. Thanks So much
