Guest guest
Mimi Both of my kids (RSS and not) were toilet trained without pull ups because they didn't make them back then!! I bought the " training " underwear. They are that thick, thick material that absorbs most " accidents " . In other words the amount of liquid the kids would produce with one urination would be absorbed. Adam, though small, still was able to wear them just fine. Also I tried to train both my kids during the summer when the weather was nice and had them running around with no diapers on. I had several potties and so one was never far away for the RUN when the kids had to go. The odd accident on the floor or carpet was really no big deal (with baking soda on the carpet) because urine is so much just water. Also I had one girl and one boy.....so I got the *joys* of trying to train both. My sister has had one hell of a time training my almost 3 year old nephew (no RSS or anything) and I swear it's those pull ups that make it all so much more comfortable for kids, it takes longer. Good luck Debby B Potty training questions Hello everyone- I am curious about how you tackled potty training for your RSS or SGA kids. Since they don't make pull-ups that will fit our kids what did you use? I have tried the pampers easy ups but the leg holes are so big I am afraid everything will leak out. Also did you delay potty traiing because of size? I know it is really important to treat our kids their age but does it pertain to this also? Isaac has become very interested in the bathroom and is saying " potty " when he follows us in there. If we close the door and don't let him in he starts crying. It doesn't matter who it is..yes it is great when we have guests because Isaac sits outside of the bathroom crying " potty mama potty " Any adivce is greatly appreciated!! Guest guest
Mimi, How much does Isaac weigh? I found the generic 2 T pullups at Walmart to be fine for Connor. who was 22 lbs when we started. Also, Isaac is at that age where mimicing the people around him is a big part of what he learns. Do you have an individual potty for him, or a seat you put on the big one? For what it's worth, this is what we did with Connor. Also, Connor doesn't have as many constipation issues or runny issues as the other RSS kids. Our issues were undigested food passing right through. Gross, but true. O.k. Connor has two older brothers who he is trying to copy all the time. He had no issues with a potty seat on the big potty. We started to let him " go " before a bath or right when he woke up. We used the Walmart pull-ups. On some Saturday's, I would put him in tiny underwear. He loved being a big boy, but still needed privacy. He would run and hide behind a door when he had to go. So, this is so clever (not my idea, I'm not that clever), one of our nurses came up with it. When she noticed Connor trying to hide, she'd put him up on the potty seat, and then make a tent by draping a towel over the towel rack and on a folding chair. Connor hid behind it, thought he was the next best thing to sliced bread and we had him potty learned in two weeks. Now, I help him up on the seat and leave the bathroom so he can have " privacy. " For the urinating, I drag my bathroom scale up to the toilet, and Connor stands on it to do his business. The stool was to tall, but he was to short to stand up yet. The scale is about 2 inches high and fit's him perfectly. I always note his morning weight too so that I know how our BMI is tracking along. Hope our clever tricks help! > > Hello everyone- > > I am curious about how you tackled potty training for your RSS or SGA > kids. Guest guest
I am so glad someone asked this question. Especially with twins I struggle with this one. Alivia( non rss) is potty trained , but Grace (RSS) just doesn't get it. Well, sometimes she does, but she has to go so often atleast every hr. . I could spend all day in the bathroom. When have other RSS kids actually potty trained successfully? She is supposed to be potty trained for Sunday school class, but luckily they are understanding at our church. I'm not sure a school will be so understanding when it is time for preschool. We don't have a problem fitting pull-ups, but did start with the Easy- ups because they are a little smaller. Guest guest
with jacob 9 now he did not finish training until he was 31/2 no matter whati tried he was not ready ........but it helped when we got very little undies or the really small traing old fashtion kind, this made him feel it so he would not like it. he still has some nighttime issues, but i am not sure if is a boy thing or an rss thing or a combo of the two. cara mom to jacob grace12803 wrote: I am so glad someone asked this question. Guest guest
Hi Terri, I am a few days behind here, but I also had to deal with the twin thing. Both my twins trained late. (non RSS) trained at 3 1/2. However, she totally trained (day and night) within two weeks of each other. (RSS) trained even later, part of which may have been attributable to the pump. was over 4 when he daytime trained. Due to being on the pump overnight, we still have him in pullups at night. Judith, Steve, (RSS) and (non RSS) 6 year old twins
Guest guest
My son stayed in nappies until his 3rd birthday. We then left his nappies off but found he was totally dry immediately. One accident only then dry ever since. He did however keep nappies on at night for at least another 6 months. Now we joke he has a cast iron bladder...think Austin Powers and you wont be far wrong. Lizzy k...mum to Jessie 10yr, 8 1/2 yr RSS, and a big bump due today. Mimi wrote: Hello everyone- I am curious about how you tackled potty training for your RSS or SGA kids.
