Guest guest
Hi pam, THanks for your experience..I know that after my 3rd surgery the feeling in my upper gums just had started coming back after 8-9 months only to mess with it again on surgery #4...This is the last one except for taking 1 plate out in Jan 2006...My lower gums or teeth were not numb only after surgery #! when I had a genio done. I have small amount that is barely noticeable to me in the cheeks and upper lip, but upper gums are totally numb...I guess I got lucky this surgery.. Happy healing and keep in touch Jill v123violet wrote: Hi Jill, I had upper & lower 8 weeks ago and my gums are still completely numb, except for the inside of my bottom teeth. It is a little scary, isn't it? This is my 2nd surgery, I had a SARPE (upper jaw expansion) 3 years ago - they cut inside my mouth under my lip. I did get some sensation back in my upper gum but it didn't return to normal - I think because having to cut right there they probably severed some nerves...maybe, I don't know. Anyway....I would think, that since this surgery the incisions weren't as close (inside the cheek), that there's more chance of the pre-op sensation to come back. This is just a guess, but all we can do is be patient and hope for the best. This surgery sure requires alot of patience, doesn't it? haha Pam > > > > > > 4 weeks ago I had a Maxillary Le Fort Osteotomy (my upper jaw > cut > > > into 4 pieces and widened), and a Mandibular Osteotomy (my lower > jaw > > > cut and moved forward). > > > > > > Anyway, I am still numb in both the upper and lower lips > (somewhat > > > expected), but my entire nose and cheeks (just under the eyes > and > > next > > > to the nose) are also completely numb. Guest guest
hey there, i had SARPE (upper jaw expansion) Oct. 24th and my upper gums are completely numb except for on top of my left front tooth and the one next to it on the left..(this came back last week i'd say) so i think the feeling is starting to come back and spread that way...but this is the only numbing i had...no numbing at all with lips, chin, nose, cheeks, etc, or even inside the mouth on palete or right on top of upper gums...so at first i thought there was no numbing at all and it took like a full day to realize that actually my entire upper gums were numb... -jessica J Mc wrote: Hi pam, THanks for your experience..I know that after my 3rd surgery the feeling in my upper gums just had started coming back after 8-9 months only to mess with it again on surgery #4...This is the last one except for taking 1 plate out in Jan 2006...My lower gums or teeth were not numb only after surgery #! when I had a genio done.
