Guest guest
Hi- I had a lower jaw surgery in 1998 and then my jaw joints freaked out because they were already sensitive because I ground my teeth some and then I guess I had trauma because of the surgery so now I'm going to have to have 2 further surgeries. If you have jaw pain at all, I would be super careful and ask about that. Even if your joints are fine, I would do a lot of research and get a second and maybe third opinion before I went ahead with a surgery. Research is free, but you can't take back a surgery. I mean my situation is kinda rare- but I do think things go wrong and you should go to your oral surgeon with some very specific questions before you move ahead. Good luck, Felshie > > From reading some of the posts, it seems that there is alot of people > who required a second or even third ortho-surgery. Guest guest
Hi Dougohare, Some of us know going in that we will have more than one surgery related to the reconstruction. I am scheduled for two. But most people only have the single surgery. There have been several people here lately though, who have had some complications that had to be corrected with a second or third. It can happen. But during the time I have been on the board, this is an unusual number of people to have repeat surgeries at one time period. Most have the surgery, go into recovery and then do well. Perhaps the people who have had to have repeat surgery will respond to you to let you know what happened in their situation. That may help you with your question too. Hugs, Fran > > From reading some of the posts, it seems that there is alot of people > who required a second or even third ortho-surgery.
