it can take anywhere between 1 and half months to 6 months if not more

for some people, depending on how fast their recovery is. For me,

feeling normal really started happening about 2 weeks ago in that I

felt like my old self again, energy-wise, looks wise, morale wise. I'm

4 months and 1 week post-op and I don't expect to be 100% until 6

months post-op at the earliest. Take it easy on yourself. You've been

through a very intense surgery and it's only natural that your body

should take its time to heal. Keep your chin held up high and I promise

it will get better and you'll be grinning away like a big cheshire cat

in no time.

wow....we must be in a parallel universe...I'm 4 weeks too and my name

is Pam as well (lol)

I feel the same as you - I had upper and lower, but did not have

genioplasty. Numb on the left, feeling starting on the right. I'm

still swollen in my cheeks, some days it gets worse rather than

better. The inside of my cheeks hurt due to the braces rubbing

against them.

My OS said 4 weeks is way too early to be worried about numbness, so

as hard as it is to try to keep it out of your mind, you need to try.

Use a heat pack for the swelling, once/hour for 20 minutes if at all

possible, each time you do it it's supposed to reduce the fluid inside

just a bit. I've started putting wax on my braces where it's rubbing

my cheeks - this relieves some of the pain.

I don't know when I'll feel 'normal' again either - maybe when I can

put a glass to my mouth and actually feel it touch my bottom lip and

not have it dribble down my chin :)~

You will get better, and this will be all in the past, and you'll be

so happy - it just takes time.
