Guest guest
- Thank you for your continued support. Sometimes I feel like my surgery will never get here and I get a little bit depressed, but your post boosted my spirits, so Thank You! Today was a GOOD day for me - it was my OD adjustment day. My wonderful OD, Dr. Slattery, continues to be very pleased with my progress, and although I hadn't noticed much movement this past month, he certainly noticed that my teeth are continuing at their steady movement pace. He again changed my #16- Nickel-Titanium wires for stiffer ones; put a #17-Nickel- Titanium wire on the top and a #16-stainless steel wire on the bottom. He also put a powerchain on the top between my two front teeth, and a powerchain entirely on the bottom. He says he will now be " consolidating any gaps " , as well as pulling my upper and lower teeth back. He will be putting the bands on my second molars sometime before Christmas - see, , even I get a Christmas present! LOL.(I like YOURS better though!) I told him that my morale was waning and I was hoping that he would tell me that I was just a tiny bit ahead of schedule, which he agreed to promptly. He also told me that if my teeth continue to move at their current pace, he feels that I may be ready for the surgery a little bit earlier, but that's Dr. 's decision, and he hasn't discussed it with him yet. I interpreted that to mean " don't hold me to this - Dr. hasn't given me clearance to say this " . He says he will touch bases with him about the progress I'm making; he does this monthly and assured me that Dr. still " loves me " ! I'm supposed to go back to my OMS in Dec. for a progress check-up and to make the decision about the LeFort, and my OD says he will be taking another Cephalometric xray in late Nov. for me to take along with me. When I got back to work, my mouth was really starting to ache as Dr. Slattery said it would, so I took a Naproxen. He says that the combined force of the wires and the powerchains will exert lots of pressure on my teeth (and the roots), and I will feel that force all month long. Yippee! Well, this turned into a longer-than-expected post so I'd better end it. Thank you again for your support and words of wisdom, . Take care.~~~~~Diane > > > Hi All, > > > > > > I just wanted to post to all my surgery buddies that my OD > > informed > > > me today that my Orthognathic journey is almost complete.
