Guest guest
Hi , Yes, I would do it again (upper/lower/genio Aug 2003) but with the same surgeon, anaesthesiologist and ortho. They were all terrific. I had no pain. Most of us don't experience pain because of numbness (I was numb from behind my eyeballs to the below my chin, and the inside of my mouth was numb too). The numbness can be the most frustrating part of the recovery process as it can last for quite awhile (major numbness usually goes away fairly quickly, within a week or two, but residual numbness can take an annoyingly long time to subside - months to years). Hope that helps, > So, would those of you who have had the jaw surgery (be it upper or lower) would you do it again if given the chance? I am wondering if it is worth or will be worth all the pain? > Thanks, > > >
Guest guest
Whoops! Make that August 2002 - just celebrated my 3rd anniversary. Sweet! > Hi , > > Yes, I would do it again (upper/lower/genio Aug 2003) but with the > same surgeon, anaesthesiologist and ortho. They were all terrific. > > I had no pain. Guest guest
, I'm four months post-op I had upper jaw surgery, major nose reconstruction, cheek bone and bone graft surgery. I would go through it all again as the results were worth it for me. I will probably be having my lower jaw done in a few months. I was able to keep on top of my pain with medication. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi , when I was in the hospital I said I'd rather have a limb removed than ever go through that again. However, now that I'm 1.5 post op, the jury's still out. As long as I get some feeling back in my lower lip then I think this was probably worth it. I have 3 other friends that have had this done with no regrets. > So, would those of you who have had the jaw surgery (be it upper or lower) would you do it again if given the chance? Guest guest
Hi , I can honestly tell you that I have had no pain at all. Numbness yes, which can be difficult to take at times, but no pain at all. I had upper and lower jaw plus adjustment of lip line because of a gummy smile, but I have most of my feeling back on the sides of my face, I have numbness on my t-zone of my face and I can honestly say I have taken one lot of pain killers when my 3 year all unfortunatly head butted me in the cheek and eye, but for the actual operation, which I had 12 days ago, nothing. I was like you terrified of the whole thing and I have been so happy. -Australia

Guest guest
I don't regret doing it at all so yes, I would do it all over again, definitely. Sure there were moments where I felt like crap...the pain however was nothing compared to a life time of headaches due to TMJ problems and being resigned to just not being able to eat a lot of food due to poor bite formation. The pain, within the grand realm of things, is a very small part of the final big picture, in my humble opinion. I did have a very smooth recovery however so that's probably why I feel this way.
