Guest guest
Hi Gale, Not sure about CPAP causing it. I do know that I was getting awfull nose bleeds from my concentrator. My doc gave me an order for a humidifier for it and I haven't had any since then. Maybe someone else can give you more specific info on a CPAP. Guest guest
Hi Gale,Both my husband and I use a cpap, and we have never had a problem with nose bleed. Maybe it is caused by dry air. I used a humidifier on my cpap before I started using oxygen, but I understand you can't use the humidifier and oxygen together so I stopped the humidifier. Wish I could help you, but my knowledge is very limited. Hope you get your problem solved.Pat
Guest guest
Does your cpap have a humidifier? I would imagine with out one the dry air could cause nose bleed problems.Dyane, 54, Phoenix, IIP 02 now NSIP 09, Breast Cancer, Psoriasis, Lipodermatosclerosis, Diabetes, and now a RA like autoimmune component, yadda yadda yadda."Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving is a pretty, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, chocolate in one hand, Margaritas in the other, loudly proclaiming "Holy **** What a ride!".">> > > Does anyone know if using a CPAP at night contributes to a nose bleed?> Gale> Reply to sender | Reply to group Messages in this topic (27) > Recent Activity: * New Members 3 > Visit Your Group Start a New Topic > MARKETPLACE> Going Green: Your Yahoo! Guest guest
Why can't you run the humidifier and the O2 together, the RT that came out showed me how to hook it all up and he never said they couldn't run together???? I also have the humidifier on my CPAP machine as well as O2 hooked up to it. C_53_Familial IPF_5/09, Washington HOPE doesn't disappoint! Guest guest
I also use the humidifier & oxygen on my C-PAP. My concentrator also has a humidifier that I don't use. Maybe it's too much moisture to run the humidifier on both the concentrator and C-PAP at the same time?!?. Just a thought? Guest guest
Dyane, Someone from the provider of my equipment told me not to use the C- PAP machine humidifier because the concentrator makes it's own water. Maybe I misunderstood. I am going to ask some questions and find out. Sometimes I do get a very dry mouth and throat at night. There is so much to learn......... Guest guest
I take all the humidity I can get since Phoenix has none and I think every drug I take has dry mouth as a side effect. Guest guest
Pat.... thought I would add what I use just mainly to show to check it out! I use a 'water bottle' on my concentrator and it connects to the cpap. I have a water storage container on my cpap but I've never used both. One or the other. I know there are some here who DO use a humidifier and then I was just reading posts about NOT using a humidifier. Check with your O2 provider and your pulmodude just to be sure. It seems that information would be the same for all of us but it doesn't prove out that way. Causes confusion. Guest guest
Gale... I've used a cpap for about 4-5 years and have never had a nose bleed... I'm thinking it might be a super dry nose. Vaseline is not recommended but using a humidifier may help and so will AYR, a gel bought otc. What does your Dr. say? Guest guest
Hi , Sorry to respond so slow but our computer has been off line for an hour or so. Contact Mari Hart at Emory mbhart@... and she can assist. I have a new Dr. At Emory nor and it is Dr. Kershaw. I will be going up in January for my PF tests. I have met him and he did some real quickie tests a couple months ago for insurance purposes. For all to hear Joanie and I received a great Christmas present as we were re-instated as preferred status. We have been fighting this ever since we were made to shift from United Health Care to Blue Cross/Blue shield. We will be given a refund from some of the "overpayments" due to being on the less preferred status. There is a God and a Santa. Guest guest
I use nasal pillows and do quite well with them. Docs say it has improved my ph. Gale To: Breathe-Support Sent: Thu, January 7, 2010 1:27:37 PMSubject: Re: CPAP Tina, I have sleep apnea and have been on a cpap machine for over a year. It is very important that you use your machine because sleep apnea can damage your heart. Your provider should let you try on different masks to choose the one that is most comfortable for you. I have the profile Lite Custom Nasal Mask with head straps. It's a soft jell and is designed to conform to the shape of your face. It is latex-free. It may bother you at first, but if you keep trying you will get used to it, and you will sleep and feel so much better. Just try it a few hours a night, and increase the time as you get more used to it. My oxygen concentrator connects to the cpap machine. I'm usually coughing hard at night by the time I go through my bedtime routine, and I can hardly wait to get the cpap machine and oxygen on. It really calms me down, and I sleep so much better. Please keep trying for your own good. My provider is American Home Patient for cpap and oxygen, and I like them very much. Good luck to you.
