Guest guest
Well, I'm still numb in the palate and I can't feel most of my gum (upper). First four top front teeth are totally without feeling. And half of my tongue (a little less, that is) is still numb. I broke something in my left joint (not broke but I believe it was dislocated) and I had physio theraphy for 6 months, in December. Being out of it now for a couple of months, it's improved, but it's still fragile. Finally, only recently did my hip started to feel right (they removed a piece of my bone in the hip to transplant it it my upper jaw). I can still feel some stifyness in my hip on certains days and when it's humid for long periods (like we had this summer). Asside from that, I still have the metal retainer which I'm fighting my ortho over to get them removed. He won't do it, so I need to find a new ortho to get them removed and replaced with a night retainer. Fun, fun, fun! I'm probably the worst patient Ray

Guest guest
No more surgery for me, thank you Truth is, if I had been doing this for aesthetic reason, I would be 150% satisfied. My smile is perfect, my nose hasn't moved, my teeth are visible when I smile, when I talk, etc. It would be heaven But I did this to eat better and, so far, I haven't been able to bite in a carrot or eat a steak, and since my joints are still weak, I need to be patient. I'm not complaining, though. I took a chance and I lost. That was part of the deal. And I knew it. Ray
Guest guest
Hi Zulu, I'm still here, of course, as is Cammie. Getting ready to celebrate my 3rd anniversary this 27th of August (upper/lower/genio). How are you doing? > I've not been on this site for a while, but would love to know some of > the old posters, who were posting last year, are doing... > > Dan, did you get rid of the numbness? Guest guest
Hi Zulu! Today has been 1 year since my surgery! I haven't been here much either. Still have the braces on, just went on Monday, says they will probably be off in November. I just hope! When I was seeing my surgeon, he wanted to do a genio when my braces come off, which was never done with my surgery. So I might do that later on. How are things with you? Guest guest
hi susan and mindy, nice to hear from you guys. My braces are coming off on sept. 12th (less than 4 weeks away).... it's been a long journey - about 2.5 years... it will be an odd feeling without braces... mindy, are you happy with your results? do you have any numbness? Guest guest
I am definitely satisfied with the results. However, I still don't have much of a chin, I should have had the genio done with it. My OS was trying to talk me into it, my first follow-up after my surgery. I was like " OK, I'm barely recovering from this surgery, and now you're trying to talk me into another one?! " But now I am considering getting it done because I want my lips to meet, which genio hopefully will do that. And having more of a chin would be great. I still have numbness on my upper gums, but it does not bother me at all. I do notice lately that when I brush my teeth, I can feel more. As far as my lips, it's just an altered sensation. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Guest guest
Hi zulu, Glad to hear you are shedding your braces soon! It really felt funny when mine came off. Slippery teeth again! They were yellow too, despite my best efforts at cleaning, so I'm not too impressed with the photo my ortho took that day. I had booked an appointment that week to see my dental hygienist for measurement of bleaching trays etc. Didn't take long to get those teeth white again! Do you know if you getting permanent wire retainers or removeable? > hi susan and mindy, > > nice to hear from you guys. > > My braces are coming off on sept. 12th (less than 4 weeks away).... > it's been a long journey - about 2.5 years... it will be an odd > feeling without braces... > > mindy, are you happy with your results? do you have any numbness?
