Guest guest
You can use dripped yogurt as a substitute for DCCC. I’ve never found DCCC in any local stores, couldn’t get any store to agree to order it, nor do I have a freezer large enough to store a mail order. So I just substitute dripped yogurt in recipes that call for DCCC. I wouldn’t use lactose-reduced milk for yogurt. Use whole milk, as it has less lactose than other types of milk. Fermenting the milk for 24 hours will remove the lactose anyway. Kim M. SCD 6 years Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction 6+ years neurological & spinal deterioration 3+ years >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. We are not able to get DCCC where we live in Mexico & driving to U.S. (18 hours) is not an option. There are many recipes made with DCCC, can I buy lactose reduced milk and make DCCC from it? What are other DCCC substitutes if making DCCC this way is not SCD legal? Thank you.

Lactose is what the good bacteria feed on while fermenting the milk. They break it down. If you use milk which already has reduced lactose, you starve the poor wee bacteria! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
