Guest guest
Thank you very much. I will try to get one tomorrow from Walgreens. I did not know about the two weeks. I have had IPF for a year and I have learned about setbacks. I have very divicult time holding my own '"stats" and I have not learned how regain ground lost. My Grandchildren both had the swine flu this fall. If any knows how to improve your health with IPF please tell me. Subject: H1N1 vaccineTo: Breathe-Support Date: Sunday, December 13, 2009, 11:31 AM The H1N1 flu shot is a dead virus. It takes approx. 2 wks to build up the immunity in your system. People are fearful of "getting" the flu from the shot. Not true. If you get sick then you were probably already exposed to the virus. There are minimal side effects-mostly redness or discomfort at the injection site. It is important that immunosuppressed people be protected & it is recommended by CDC - the swine flu can certainly play havoc with the lungs. I had mine in Nov. through my PCP office. My pulmodoc didn't have the vaccine either.A suggestion would be to call your local Health Department and/or your doctors office. Locally even some our pharmacies are offering the vaccine. Make sure you are updated on your pneumonia shots too. Cheers & good health to all.Maggie
Guest guest
, you are welcome. Don't forget about getting the regular seasonal flu vaccine too. Let them know what allergies you have - you shouldn't receive the vaccine if you have a servere allergy to eggs or if You have had Guillain Barre' Syndrome. (GBS). Guest guest
Thanks, I am living with a risk. So what is one more shot in the dark. I have a female driver that drives very fast and crazy. To ride with her I have to forget all my fears. Thank God, that she is now in AZ. I do not do a good job of firing my help. So many folks are out of work in MI that help is waiting on my door-step. Guest guest
I received both flu shots, seasonal and H1N1 and had absolutely no side effects from either one, not even a sore arm! I feel a comfort of safety when I'm around people now that I've had my shots. C_53_Familial IPF_5/09, Washington HOPE doesn't disappoint!
