Guest guest
My husband's been on scd for 5 wks , may he have green olives the kind with pimento in them or black olives . The green kind I can make all kinds of chicken dishes with it would help, if its allowed. And, I want to make a lemon almond cake and put candied lemons on top, can I just use honey and candy them down . will it work?

Be careful on black olives: sometimes they are blackened using an iron-solution which may cause intestinal distress. Do not use pimento-stuffed olives. Regrettably, while they used to be stuffed with real pimento, now they make a sheet of pimento flavored starch-gel, and cut it to size, and this is not legal. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
Guest guest
Olives are OK as long as there aren't any illegals, but be careful because (in my experience, anyhow) there usually are illegals. Lactose is very common. I haven't made candied peels for decades, so it was with sugar syrup, but I don't see why honey wouldn't work, too. Remember, though, that will be very concentrated in the sweet department so take that into account if you need to.
