Guest guest
Steph - well, that all depends on how much you want to spend! LOL Carbon Fiber bikes are VERY light! But, VERY expensive. There are definately options - is he using training wheels still? I wish my dh were here to help with this question. He's the cyclist in the family - has 6 bikes - plus our tandem. He's the one to ask. Do me a favor and remind me if I don't respond by tomorrow - I'll definately ask my dh what he thinks. Size is very important for any child. My 4 yr old has been riding a bike (w/training wheels) since he was 18 months believe it or not. Ian, my RSS son still has problems pedaling, but is starting to get the hang of it. We have a Fisher for Ian who is 2.5 yrs. It's quite heavy actually - but, sturdiness is important for the young ones. As I was saying, size is important - they should be measured in a certain way (my husband can remind me of that) and their knees should not come up too far, otherwise they are not positioned properly and it will be too hard to pedal the bike. Parents make this mistake all the time and tend to put their children on too small of a bike. We had a hard time finding a bike small enough for Ian. He didn't even reach the pedals until just this October (we had bought the bike for his birthday in May) and had literally put the seat down as far as it would go. My dh actually had to saw off the seat's tube in order for us to get it down to the frame. Anyway, I will definately ask my husband for his suggestions and get back to you. Of course, remind me if you don't hear from me soon - or feel free to e-mail personally with your question too. - H () > > Hi everyone, sorry I don't manage to check in very often anymore life > just seems to be way too busy.
