Janine, There is at least one person who thinks this broth is legal. I do not consider it legal because of the " natural chicken flavor, " and the generic " organic spices. Guest guest
Thanks, Marilyn – I ran out of fresh soup and realized the tons of homemade chicken soup I have in the freezer has either rice noodles or canned beans in it… so, my husband is picking up chicken for me on his way home and I will start a fresh batch (and start giving away my freezer stock!). I wrote to the company – we’ll see what they say about the other ingredients that are “natural” chicken flavor and spices – I’ve learned to be weary of this with the GF/CF/SF diet my son and I have been on for years but thought someone on this list may already have knowledge about this particular product. ~ Janine From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of Wizop Marilyn L. Guest guest
The author of Eat Well, Feel Well checked it out some years ago, and said it was safe. But they could have changed the ingredients since then. Also, commercial broth is notgoing to have the long cooked gelatin in it that i one of the main reasons that is helpful for SCDers - since that helps to counteract the inflammation in theirguts. Janine, Argh! I hate that when what you have in the freezer is not what you can have -- I went through that a bunch when I was first on SCD! The thing I've learned, though, is that every time I think there's a short-cut to be taken, the short-cut usually ends up costing me more (in terms of not feeling well) than I saved by not making my own. Looks like you've discovered it, too. It's a crime we have to be so careful of what we put in our mouths! — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
