Guest guest
Good Morning! It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining. The leaves are changing colors on the trees. It's going to be 80 degrees today. And, Ian has strep throat. Oh brother. LOL But, the good news is - I think we caught it early. They gave him a shot of Penicillin yesterday - I opted for this instead of daily doses of antibiotics because whenever he's on them - he usually doesn't eat. He had been complaining of headaches all day and by the afternoon - I talked to his pediatrician and she said I needed to come in. (I was planning on it anyway <grin>). As far as his blood sugars - he went to bed with blood sugars of 161. Then, at 2:30 am he woke up crying and asking for Nutren. He drank 6 ozs and went right back to sleep. He woke up this morning with blood sugars of 88. This will be an interesting " study " as I am going to do a log for several more days and will see what his blood sugars are on other mornings when he does or does not eat at night. I printed out what I had for his blood sugar log for my Ped and she thinks Ian needs a G-tube. Even though he's sick - he really needs to get his blood sugars stablized and gain weight. Hmmm.....does that sound familiar to anyone out there??? <grin> It was funny though - she started " stuttering " about GI docs and making appointments, etc.....and I knew what she was getting at and said to her " Spit it out! I know what you want to say to me. You think he needs a G-tube " . She smiled and said " Well, I didn't want to be the first one to say it " . I said " You are NOT the first one - and if you only knew! " . LOL It will be interesting to hear Dr. H's opinion after all of this. As far as Ian is concerned - I'm having a VERY hard time getting him to eat this morning. I need to give him some Motrin - that shot did a wammy on his leg and he's having trouble walking - but, I can't give him anything on an empty stomach. Oh, he's finally drinking some Nutren now in front of the TV. This kid is a trooper - I tell you that. is throwing balls in my house while we watch the Tigger movie. I think I need to straighten him out here. I told him yesterday he was driving me crazy and I'm through with yelling at him. He's turning 4 next week and I've decided he thinks he's turning 18. My dh sais I'm too " easy " on them - but, if anyone has ever heard me on the phone - I'm by no means " easy " . Okay - now I'm throwing balls too - I better go! LOL Maybe it's a consistency problem I'm having. Yep! LOL Did I mention I was so exhausted last night that I literally felt like I had 5 Tylenol pms. I think I'm fighting this strep thing myself. But, I don't have time for it - and besides - it's going to be a beautiful day today and I want to go out and play. Thanks for reading. - H
Guest guest
Hi H, Sorry to hear Ian is sick. Dasia woke up with your basic sneezing, runny nose, eyes and congestion. And of course will not eat because of it. I got a 1/2 cup of yogurt in for the day so far. We'll be roughin it, this winter as well. She was well for about a week or 2 since her last flu and bad cold that were back to back. I think I'll keep a log of every illness, I just find this so weird a child could get sick this much, especially when my other 2 are never sick. Hope those antibiotics work fast for Ian! One thing I try to keep in mind, this is strengthening her immune system for her later years in life. Try and enjoy the nice weather while it lasts, where do you live again? It's pretty warm here today, just gloomy. advocate22003 wrote: Good Morning! It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining. The leaves are changing colors on the trees. It's going to be 80 degrees today. Guest guest
Awww . Poor Ian. I am soooo glad you went ahead to the doctor yesterday. I was way too worried about him. I am glad you got him on the antibiotics and hopefully he will bounce back soon. You have to keep me posted on the g tube thing. I will also be interested in seeing what Dr. H has to say about it. Did you get some time to yourself today?? I went on my regular grocery trip! Ugh. ) But, my wonderful husband did take me out to dinner last night while my parents watched the boys. It was so nice. ) Hope Ian is feeling better today, Jodi R. > > Good Morning! It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining. The > leaves are changing colors on the trees. There was no drainage (she has tubes ) so I t hought they might be blocked. Ears looked great and then teh Dr. looked at her mouth and sort of said,, " Ohhhhhhhhh " . Red throat, rapid came back neg but we'll see about tomorrow...who knew strep caused " referred ear pain " ! > > Good Morning! It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining. Guest guest
I hope everyone is feeling better. WE went through the strep throat thing with my two boys and Autumn, and the only symptom was ear pain and a fever with my younger son and I was shocked it was strep, then Autumn and my older son got a fever and were tested immediatly. They were miserable. > > > > Good Morning! It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining. The > > leaves are changing colors on the trees. Guest guest
- thanks. You know - Ian only had a headache - but, he hasn't even had any cold symptoms and he tested positive. I think we caught it right away. My 3 year old has bad cold symptoms for awhile - he tends to keep his longer without sinus infections. I'm debating whether I should check him because he hasn't had any fevers. - H > > > > > > Good Morning! It's a beautiful day. The sun is shining. The > > > leaves are changing colors on the trees.
