Guest guest
We had the same issue with our insurance (UHC). When we went to the Starband clinic, I was already sold on the Doc band and was pretty sure they weren't going to change my mind. After our consult, both my husband and I were very impressed with the Starband product. I had read that both products are considered to be the best but that it really depends on the orthotist. Our daughter got her Starband (for brachy) in December and will be finished with it within the next few weeks. Her head is already to 87% but we are trying to capture one more growth spurt. We have been very pleased with the product and have had absolutely no issues with it. Our appointments are typically every 3 weeks. The major winning factor for us is that the Starband uses the Starscanner instead of moldings. The scanner takes about 2 seconds and then you have a 3D image to compare to. In my opinion, the Starscanner offers more consistent measuring because the human error is taken out. The other nice thing about the Starband is that it is made for long term growth so it would be very abnormal to outgrow the starband. Guest guest
We went with Star over in Columbia. We noticed an improvement after a week. I can't say that that Doc band is the best, but we are pleased with Star over in Columbia, MD. We saved a bundle and were happy that we didn't need to purchase two bands. > > I know this question has circulated before, but just throwing it out again: > my BCBS won't cover the DOC, but will cover StarBand. Guest guest
We chose to go with STARband through Hanger here in Milwaukee, WI even though we have a CT not far away at all from us either. The STARband was mostly covered by our insurance as well so that was a perk. Our orthotist was wonderful and we were very happy with the product. My daughter was in her STARband for 6 weeks starting at 5.5 months for plagio of 11mm and went down to 0mm!! So we were very happy with our results and highly recommend them I think a lot does depend on your orthotist though, make sure they are experienced in this area. Good luck! - Meg, mom to Lucy 21months, STARband grad 1/09 > > I know this question has circulated before, but just throwing it out again: > my BCBS won't cover the DOC, but will cover StarBand.
