Guest guest
You will love rehab........My instructor was a (nazi) but I loved him PF 01/05 diabetis forever, pagents disease 1975 68yo Atlanta. To: Breathe-Support Sent: Wed, December 23, 2009 6:26:01 PMSubject: Follow-up Bronchiectasis Saw new pulmo Monday. Loved him. He asked everything and ordered everything I had read needed to be done and then some. He will do a bronchoscopy, take more biopsies and 3 sputum cultures are ordered. Two are already at the lab. They are also for fungus. He certainly intends to get to the bottom of this. He actually read all my reports from Jewish!!! He asked very good questions about them. He explained physiology and possible causes of infection in bronchiectisis and more. He also put me back on Doxycycline but at 150mg dose for 3 weeks. Also added 20mg of pred for one week, 15mg for one week and then stay at 10mg. It seems to be working a bit already. I will see him in one month. So, needless to say I'm sick but hopeful. He is testing for the microbe that is in the tuberculosis family, but is not TB. That one might take a year of antibiotics to nail. Hope it isn't that one.... I think? Not sure what to wish for other than a cure for this infection. He is ordering pulmonary rehab which I only heard about from this support group. Will have bronchoscopy when he gets the CT from Jewish so he knows the best biopsy sites. I sure hope things are looking up as I think I have several pretty good years left if my rate of decline stays the same. We never know, do we.Three grandchildren were here for three days. The granddaughter learned to make chicken and dumplings, apple pie and sugar cookies. She is 18 and likes to cook. Her father will be thrilled she can make dumplings!ann
Guest guest
Michealann, It sure does sound like you found yourself a good pulmo. He seems to really be looking at everything and doing all the things that need to be done. The fact that he's ordering pulmonary rehab is enough to impress me. So many people have to plead for it, it's nice to have a pulmo that obviously believes in it enough to order it on his own. Have a wonderful holiday! Look after yourself and enjoy those grands!
