I'll make a phone call this afternoon and will let you all know how they are

doing since Lorraine's surgery is 1st and Carol's is prolly the last one.

Tina (jelly bean toes) & Sheriff too!

Re: Well Vitalady, I hope you're happy!

Wow, anyone that could check in on Loraine & Carol for us? Just

please don't send that storm east, OK? Pretty pleeeeeeze!!!

Hey, maybe they'll show that film clip on the news here, too.

I say I'd rather drive in 2 feet of Chicago snow than 2 " here, because of

how slick it gets, and the fact that people will NOT leave enough room

between cars, and will not slow down. We were watching live news this

morning, cars following too close and plowing into each other, and it was

just insanity. Then there was the hill in Seattle which is CLOSED, but

people were trying it anyway. The newsman was told by a policeman that if

anyone caused an accident on a roadway closed because of snow, they would

receive a ticket for reckless endangerment, which is a lot bigger deal than

a fender bender.

I'm glad I'm inside. We have about 6 " on the ground now, and it's just SO

slippery.

For 15 years I HAD to drive in ice and snow, for 10 hours a day (plus the

drive time to and from work). Calling in to work " because I can't get

there, " is unacceptable for a police officer. If I get out in it now,

somebody had better be dying. I'm perfectly capable of handling a vehicle in

crappy weather, but it's the OTHER idiots that scare me to death.

Yeah, for those of us used to inclement weather, snow is rather easy

to drive in. A foot of snow will give you more traction than that

little icy covering. But, I'd hate to be in an area where people

don't know how to drive in snow...wouldn't be fun.

No, I agree that it isn't much (or as much as I'd like). Enough to

be decorative and dangerous, though.

What's amazing is that I had 3 appts on Sat, when everyone had about

6 " , but me, and I had about 2 " . I got up to check my email to see

that all 3 cxl. But Noooooooo! All 3 actually braved the snow to get

here. Amazing. Good thing I didn't go back to bed. LOL!

The sad thing about this snow is that there can be no -sized

snow angels in it. Between the Raynaud's and whatever cooties I have,

I think it might be stupid to go lie in the snow. Drooling at the

window will have to suffice.

About our lil hills here. The first year we were in Puyallup was my

first year with no VW bug or bus to drive. Yeah, I had a Subaru (AWD),

but how could THAT be as good as an old VW? So, I sat and got cabin

fever. After 3 days, I threw Don in the car and said we're going,

bring the stuff to dig us out. LOL! You know, I approach the snow

with respect. And although I moved slowly, no sudden decisions, I

went exactly where I needed to go and never " felt " the snow. No

slide, no loss of traction. I became a Subaru girl on that day.

Believe me, I WANTED to go yesterday. Was dressed in many layers,

boots, almost out the door when the nausea hit me again, and decided

that maybe I didn't need to go to Office Max THAT much. lol

From the looks of Puyallup in the news, Vitalady has plenty. Maybe she could

put some on dry ice and have her cute UPS guy get it to you by overnight

shipping!

I had to have some fun with my kitties. They've never been outside (both

born around March last year), but we took them outside and stood them in the

snow. They just stood there. Poor Rufus the Fat had his belly hanging in the

snow, which he did not like one bit, and Jack just made a bee-line back for

the door. They're lying on the radiators looking out at the snowfall, but no

longer looking as if they want to go out!

Our slush usually washes away so fast that it's not a problem. The

last time I remember having snow stick around forever was 1985. It

was around everywhere for almost 2 weeks after the last snow, and in

some areas even longer. 90 and 91 were intimidating, but I was young

(and only weighed about 200-210) then. LOL! I had lots of Sr

Citizens on my block who couldn't get out, one needing radiation. But

I had an older but excellent VW bus (and bug convertible) and used

them to get people where they needed to go. Slowly, cautiously. I am

determined but not an idiot. OK, not an idiot about snow.

Kinda fun thing about the big snow in 90 or 91, Arctic Express they

called it, and we've never had below 0 temps until then. My kids

could both drive, but not very experienced. I taught them " never

surprise your wheels " . Don't stop, start, turn, shift fast. My son is

coming down our lil hill in his VW bug, we're going up. We wave. He

slams on his brakes, thinking we flagged him over. Oops. We watched

as his car oh-so-gently slid into the ditch. He jumps out of the car,

" MOM! You made me surprise my wheels!! " LOLOL! Neither he nor the

car were hurt, since the whole thing happened at about 2 MPH. Don

pulled him out with the Toyota 4WD pick-up and off he went.

******* I moved from Tacoma/Seattle 2 1/2 years ago down to Sacramento area

(Folsom). I saw on the Sacramento news last nite, the Seattle snow, with

all of the hills of Queen Anne and everyone skiing down the hills. Was

reading on the KOMO website even all about it, remembering the After

Christmas storm in Dec 1996. Remember that one? Ohhhh that was an awful

one!!!!

It has felt so cold here with the lows in the upper 20's lately, and highs

about 47.... but I cannot imagine being the highs of 20s! I freeze now! I

am SOOOOO looking forward to our 100 degree summers!!!

Was dressed in many layers,

boots, almost out the door when the nausea hit me again, and decided

that maybe I didn't need to go to Office Max THAT much. lol

Thanks,
