Hi Cori - what a great post! You sound so happy. I'm only 4 weeks,

so I'm looking forward to the stage that you're in right now. Yes,

that darn swelling really hangs on, doesn't it? I had a pallate

expansion done 3 years ago and I remember that swelling lasted

forever.

Good luck on your new project - it is a much more exciting and

uplifting hospital experience than the jaw surgery, let me tell

you! I would go through 24 hours of back labour 100 times over

before I would ever do this surgery again!

Take care, and thanks for the uplifting message!

Hi Cori - Congrats on your great recovery, you can tell that you're

excited. I was just reading your message and had a question. I have

been in my braces for about two months and won't be having surgery

until next Nov or so but my husband and I are planning on trying for

a baby soon after too. Did you talk to your surgeon or OB/GYN at all

about trying to concieve and did they tell you to wait a certain

amount of time? Just curious. Thanks! -Lori

Hi Lori,

My hubby and I did ask the surgeon how long we would need to wait after surgery

if we

came to the decision that we wanted to start trying to have a baby. He thought

for a

second and said, " you would probably want to wait about 3 weeks, that way if you

were

prone to morning sickness you would be on solid food by the time that hits a few

weeks

later. " .

THREE WEEKS! we're still laughing about that one. He did say that nothing

related to my

surgery would stay in my body for long enough for us to worry. Once I was done

with my

after surgery meds I was good to go.

Good luck!

Hay Cori girl,

Glad to hear all is going well with my surgery bud. I too am in

bands to pull my molars together. Amazingly, after only 1 and 1/2

weeks of pulling on the left side, my molars had come together and

the ortho told me to stop wearing them. On the right side the

molars have also come down, but my upper teeth need to be widened a

little bit more, so they're not quite touching. Also, they're going

very slowly with this because my OS is afraid my right TMJ joint is

locked, and they're not wanting to aggravate anything. I start

physical therapy next week for four weeks, and if things aren't

improved they will get an MRI and consider another surgery.

Surprisingly enough, even with all that, I too am in good spirits.

I can chew, and I am splintfree. I got to enjoy most of the foods

on my cruise, and if something was a little to tough, so what?

Just like you, I actually couldn't care less when my braces come

off. Don't get me wrong, if they said I'd have them off next month

I would dance for joy, but they don't bother me at all anymore.

After having a splint in for 10 weeks, my braces are just about

invisible to me.

I'm glad to hear your numbness is almost completely gone. Mine is

improving on the right side, the left is still mostly numb. It's

funny how we adapt though, and it's not that annoying anymore.

Time does fly. Right after surgery 1 week was such an

accomplishment, but now 12? WE MADE IT!!! Take care.

Hi Connie!!!

Sorry for the immense delay. I guess I just don't come around here that much

anymore!

It's amazing how fast things aren't an obsession anymore and you just go back to

your

normal life... Glad to hear that your molars are doing well! Mine seem MUCH

closer

together but not quite there yet. I'm just trusting my ortho and settling in

for the ride.

Anything new with you?
