Guest guest
Jill - Congratulations on your unwiring! Wow, you must be so relieved to have that behind you. Now it's time to bring on the food and eat to your heart's (and stomach's) delight! Take care and try to not overdue it, although if you do, your jaw muscles will definitely let you know it! I was so excited to eat however it was very hard..Soreness, and I can only open my mouth to one finger..The OS doesnt want me to exercise any more than eating or brushing my teeth for these next 2 weeks...he said I could eat things as spagetti, fries, mashed pots, soft meat, but nothing like steak, pizze, apples, raw vegs..Honestly, the first day you can hardly eat anything ..I did eat baked pot, macaronni, bite of coconut cream pie..I tried to break up lettuce with cheese but that was hard...Im just glad to get these wires off...and talk normal again... > I get to go back to OD in 2 weeks..I know I still need a little work on my midline, but my bite, and everything else is great..They look so good..Then in about Jan 2006 I will have to get the one plate next to my nose removed due to its bend up and left a knot..also he will enlarge my lips at that time so they will look larger and better..My mouth now looks tiny...and top lip very small...I still have very small numbness on cheeks beside nose (not much), and small amount in upper lip, but upper gums are still totally numb... > I guess Im on the road to recovery though..maybe not too much longer in these braces which Ive had for 25 months for the 2nd time..first time at age 17 and Im no were near 17 anymore..I will actually be 36 on Sunday the 13th..so here comes the cake..my son will be 10 on Sat the 12th, so we will def have alot to party about.. > ok, enough of my rambling, I hope everyone is feeling better or better soon.. > Jill > > > > > Thanks > > ,Jill McManigal > > > > --------------------------------- > Yahoo! Guest guest
Congrats to you Jill!! I was wired for 4 weeks so I definitely understand. I also had the plates removed at 6 months post-op, as it could easily be felt below my eye, near the nose. It was an easy procedure compared to the first one. My question to you is about your upper lip. What is your doc going to do? I feel that mine is smaller and still has a slightly " tight " look to it. Is that sort of like yours? I have not asked my doc about it, but have thought about it. Thanks and enjoy that soft food! a > > Hello everyone, > Just an update..Im 5 wks post op and got unwired today...Boy, did that feel weird but good at the same time..I have rubber bands for 2 weeks..Bands make you jaw feel more secure. Guest guest
Jill, I was going to ask you about your lip too - was this something that was caused by the surgery? My upper lip definetely is not as full as before surgery, I assumed it was due to the swelling and tightness from stitches and it will eventually loosen up. Guest guest
Hi Jill, Congrats on the wires coming out!! I am glad you are feeling better too. I think you are right, that as you hit these recovery milestones, you feel like you are on " the other side " of recovery. I have done that with other surgery recoveries, and it is a good feeling. It sounds like your OMS is going to really make sure you have a good cosmetic result too! How is he going to make your lips larger? Is that by a lip lift or with a filler? Sorry, but I am really curious about this! How cool to have a surgeon willing to do these extras for you! Anyway, I am glad the wires are out! Hugs, Fran > > Hello everyone, > Just an update..Im 5 wks post op and got unwired today...Boy, did that feel weird but good at the same time..I have rubber bands for 2 weeks..Bands make you jaw feel more secure.
