she followed the " spiced whoopie pie " recipe (not chocolate, duh) and omitted

Joanna,

Would you have to omit the allspice? I was not aware that it is illegal. I

know I have an SCD recipe by Prasad that has it in there..

Hey Robin- no- you are right- all spice is legal!

My friend didn't have any on hand and it still tasted great :)

" Allspice " as a single spice is legal. However, in some places,

there is a mixture of spices, some times called " apple pie

spice " and sometimes called " allspice. " The mixture called

allspice is not legal. The individual spice is legal. It can be very

confusing.

It should be a single spice, no additional ingredients, correct? Then

it's legal.

Allspice is not a blend though it sure sounds that way. THe name is

because it does taste like a mixture of spices. It should be legal, as

far as I know.
