Guest guest
So would your surgery be for cosmetic reasons only? Do you have pics posted? It seems like a lot to go through for only cosmetic reasons. Most people are having pain when they chew or other problems that prompt them to look into this. Guest guest
Hi Sue, Yes, it would be for aesthetic reasons, but more for self confidence reasons. I have a tendency not to smile, or to cover my mouth when I do. I just want to be able to smile unabashedly. Has anyone had orthognathic surgery for this reason? Have you found it worth it? And, I will post pics. > > > > My story: I'm a twenty-five year old woman with a perfectly fine > > bite, but less than average smile. Guest guest
Hi , I'm five months post op from upper jaw surgery, major nose reconstruction, cheek bone and bone graft surgery. I was very worried about the risks and complications of the surgery as my surgeon had gone through them in detail so my mum and I knew the risks etc. I went through with my surgery and I have no regrets at all! The surgery made a big difference to me, the way I look and feel! My nose is no longer small and flat, my jaw is in the correct position. I'm glad that I went through with the surgery and it is worth everything I went through braces, surgery and recovery! pearsandapplesauce wrote: My story: I'm a twenty-five year old woman with a perfectly fine bite, but less than average smile. My teeth don't show when I smile and the only way to fix this problem is jaw surgery, upper and lower. I'm presently in braces, I have my orthognathic surgeon picked out, everything is set. Except now I'm having doubts. Is it worth it? Will the end results be worth what I am about to put myself through? My mother only ever tells me the risks, but what of the rewards? Can someone tell me if this procedure has made a difference for them - good or bad? Thanks,
Guest guest
, Thank you for telling me about your experience. It seems sometimes everyone I speak with can be so discouraging, but it is wonderful to hear that it has made such a difference in your life. It is certainly reassuring to hear a success story, and I thank you. > My story: I'm a twenty-five year old woman with a perfectly fine > bite, but less than average smile.
