Guest guest
Hi Stephie. I am sorry that happed to you. I am sort of new here myself at posting as I have not had surgery yet. Sometimes Other replies to posts seem to bury Other posts. Anyway what did you have done? And please tell us how you are doing. Guest guest
Hi Stephie, I'm sorry if you were neglected and hurt by that. I remember when I first joined that I really had to put myself " out there " so to speak to get involved. And I had some messages that weren't replied to either. Sometimes it takes a few times posting and replying to get into the mix. And sometimes, replies to messages don't always get replied back to.... Regardless, I'm sorry you weren't more properly welcomed then. So, welcome now and I hope your recovery is going well? How have you been doing? Around 4 or 5 weeks out, I was anticipating getting my splint out- have you had yours removed yet? Please do feel welcome and wanted here! Guest guest
Baby, down is not unusual... But pleese, don't feel abandoned. You aren't. I dunno what you're having done. I do know that scared is not unusual. I can tell you two things: My surgeon, most excellent, said about my lower, " I could show you how to do that in 15 minutes. It's a piece of cake. " -- Moi: Nothanks, Doc. I would must rather you enjoy doing the easy surgery and I just write the little stories for the newspaper! If you're up for more op stuff, have a family member or a friend there with you, to see that you get ice post-op, as well as anything else you may need to help. But hey, try not to put the good folks on these sites down, plese. We wanna help! Best to you, and come on back, or send your friends for you, in the aftermath.. As I've said before, we were having our own awfulmath here, in the form of Katrina, and along the lower area of the U.S., we're still trying to get basic food, housing and meds, not to mention transporation, to those who have most desperate needs... Guest guest
Hi Denis thank you for your reply going through this is very lonely & any one that hasn't been through it really can't understand!about 4and 1/2 weeks ago I had a lafort I osteotomy and a bilateral sagital split on my mandible(upper jaw moved back and up and lower jaw brought out). This was my second surgery. My 1st surgery was in 2001 and the bone splintered and they aborted the surgery. So I had all the pain on one side with none of the reward. This time around I gave blood about 9days prior to surgery like I did before and it lowered my hematocrit or hemoglobin to 11 before surgery. Normal for women at the lowest is 11.5 so after surgery in the Hospital it was 7 which the doctor said was 1/2 of normal. Needless 2 say recovery was much slower than normal. Really feeling stressed! > > I am new to this group I 1st posted on the 5th or 6th (about 4wks out > > of surgery) feeling very down and worried any no one replied. THANKS A > > LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest guest
Thank you so much I had a Laforte I osteotomy on the upper jaw and a bilateral mandibular osteotomy (sagital split?)on the bottom. Fri b- 4 last my surgeon took of the bands and told me to start with mushy foods but this past wed. ortho re-banded me and said my lower jaw is relapsing. this is my 2nd surgery 1st time was in 2001(that surgery was aborted because the bone splintered when cut) it was july and I lived in N.J. @ the time then Sept 11th happened. Now I live in Houston and Katrina happened. It all seems too familiar and very hard 2 cope with since. I see evacuees walking the streets with their wrist bands for the astro dome and the convention center and feel guilty for feeling sorry 4 myself anyone else feel this way? Is it normal? > > I am new to this group I 1st posted on the 5th or 6th (about 4wks out > > of surgery) feeling very down and worried any no one replied. THANKS > A > > LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh yeah I didn't have a splint I was banded, The 2nd fri b4 last had the bands taken off only to b worn @ night, then the next wed ortho put them back on full time. Oh well. Are you excited about getting rid of the splint? Guest guest
Stephie, I think it's normal to always feel for yourself even in the most dire of circumstances. You pity other people and what's happening to them, do what you can to help them, but your daily life still goes on and if something good or bad happens, it definitely has an effect on you--regardless of anything else that is going on better/worse in the world. Guest guest
Sorry you're feeling down. I didn't reply because I don't even have my braces on yet and didn't know what information I could give you. I think the group has been a little slower than normal. A lot of people have been in and out due to vacations or family stuff. I'm am certain it wasn't intentional. Welcome to the group. Guest guest
Remember, too, that you still may be having a chemical reaction to the anesthesia and steroids. If you feel that you're heading into a serious depression, talk with your doc. There are meds that can help. So can, believe it or not, mild exercise.
