Guest guest
Hi Kat, I hold both Irish and Canadian citizenship (handy to have an EU passport these days and I can work or live in the EU if I wish). I claimed Irish citizenship some years ago through my grandparents who were both born in Northern Ireland. This trip, one of the things we did was travel in the north, where I'd never been before. My great- great grandfather was a Professor of Vocal Music at Queen's U in Belfast (Queen's College at the time), so we visited there, and a nice man spent quite a long time talking about it to us, what it was like back then, etc. We also visited the places they lived in Belfast (parking lots now) before they emigrated to Canada, and the towns where they grew up (Dungiven, Magharafelt) as well as the seaside places they visited. We ended up travelling the coast, north to south along the west coast. Amazing landscape! Every peninsula seems different than the other. The Burren was awesome, just like being on a barren planet in outer space. My husband's aunt is still alive, living on a farm on the Beara Peninsula, so we spent several weeks there (cheap accommodation, but you have to put up with family). It's a really rugged part of Ireland, gorgeous coastlines, not touristy. Final year at university? Woohoo! My suggestion would be to invent something other than those yicky hospital/clinic gowns with the wide open backs : ) Not that I'm planning to re-do any of this, but if I did, I'd be a customer for sure. Take care, and keep in touch! > Hi . > > Wow you sound as though you have been enjoying your travels!!!! it > really has been such a hot summer! Guest guest
Hi susan, we've been without the internet again (cry)! wow so you've got irish in you huh? pretty cool. I love the irish and the way they speak. Your trip sounded amazing! Being able to traceyour family back to how they used to live. i would love to do something like that. On the other hand my family are generally born and bred " yorkshire men " lol so i guess it wouldnt be that hard tracing them lol. i do know of one famous relative. my great great uncle (eddie hopkinson) was goaly or reserve goaly for england in the 1966 world cup game when we won. woowowoo. lol. A professor of vocal music hah sounds very impressive! i bet it was nice to go back there and for that guy to spend time talking to you about it! Hmm by the sounds of it i think i would like ireland. Im a bigfan of the country side. i love going up to the lake district and climbing the mountains! whats the " burren " ? i havent heard of that before. sounds very cool looking out of space like. lol. Did you see the giants causeway? my house mate (irish) took some photos to show me it looks brilliant. Very weird how the landscape changes through natural cause! I took a'level geography and was intregued how these events took place and these natural icons evolved. They are Beautiful! Really worth the hike to the top of a mountain to take in the view too! glad to hear you had a GREAT time travelling. Have you got the travel bug now? yep final year at university (cry, ARGH). Im not sure what i am going to do. its scary to think that in 9 months i will no longer be a student and will have to enter the real world. ARGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! haha. I had considered going traveling for a year though hmmmm i dont know. I have just started working at a bridal rouge gallery and im learning alot for my course and its a possible career path for me (unless i go into designing hospital gowns! very good idea btw!). HMMM i dont know too many options spoils the mind and leads to confusion! lol. i do like your idea of the hospital gown though. it would be nice to be able to wear something that doesnt show you half naked and makes you itch! It would be an interesting theme for a project that i could have some fun with especially finding someone to model them for me. haha. I shall keep you posted on any progress with it! and send you some pictures of the models haha.
