Guest guest
Hi Eileen, I have increased mast cells in my gut. They release histamine and other chemicals that can bring on those types of symptoms. When I ate foods I was allergic to I would have diarrhea, feel really hot, feel faint. Then I would have a massive diarrhea. My blood pressure would drop and I would almost faint. Now I carry anti-histamines and stay away from those foods. Has your doctor tested for increased mast cells? Take care, June > > hi all > just curious if anyone has had this - it's happened once or twice before - I was fine, ate my reg food - felt D urgency and got overly hot weak fainting nausea etc - laid down, cooled off had a BM (formed lil D at end) -and then I'm ok - lil weak and nausea left but ok again > thoughts???? > thanks > Eileen >
Guest guest
YUP!!! This (and worse - shaking/seizure like) have been happening on and off with me for the past 3 years. The only time it went away was when I went on Xifanax antibiotic to kill off the SIBO. For me it is about 20 prior to flatulence, belching, BM (worse with diarrhea and even worse with the runs), just a little faint to nothing with normal BM and comes on out of no-where! It has been VERY difficult to be out with two little boys never knowing if or when this might come over me...it is what started me on this diet and has me going back to the doc today for another script for Xifanax. I think it is the lactic acid impacting the brain...any other thoughts on cause? My natural health provider thinks I am having anxiety attacks prior to BM because of the stress having a BM puts on my weakened endocrine system - I've been dX with adrenal fatigue. Whatever it is - I am committed to getting rid of it!!! Janine Burnham Ruth - " Make conscience choices based on what you believe and your life will be a reflection of who you are. Guest guest
What are mast cells and how do you get tested for them? Guest guest
I had a colonoscopy. I had to ask my GI doctor to tell the pathologist to test for them. They have to use a special stain. They could probably tell from an endoscopy as well.It is not usually done since it is a rare disorder. Guest guest
Eileen I have this to some degree every time I eat -- well, no D. [grin] as I deal with C. I also experience the symptoms (nausea, body temperature rise, weak) about 10 minutes before a bowel movement, and for about 15 minutes afterwards. Some days the symptoms are more severe, other times barely noticeable. From what my gastroenterologist has told me, and from my own research, this is sort of " normal " if you are dealing with a dysfunctional digestive system and/or are dealing with various types of metabolic and neurological issues. When peristalsis kicks in, there can be a wave effect throughout nearly all of our body systems. Eating always triggers peristalsis. And if the food you ate happened to be high-fat, then you can also trigger something similar to " dumping syndrome " . Remember that gut/brain/blood connection??? It is worrying, especially at first. I'd check with your doctor about it, make sure there isn't anything else developing. Then you can start tracking the foods you are eating at meals that might trigger the more severe reaction. My experience has been that foods aren't usually the culprit, it is something else going on with my nervous systems or metabolism. But then I know I have issues with both of these, in addition to my digestion. Kim M. Guest guest
Eileen, How are you taking the Betaine HCL? Are you slowly working up to the dosage? Sure it can cause D. Why not? Guest guest
Eileen Look over the symptom list for dumping syndrome: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/dumping-syndrome/DS00715 There is a link to the symptoms partway down the page. Does it describe what you are feeling? Kim M. Guest guest
i read and heard that taking too much would cause a burning or nausea - so i didn't picture it affecting low down GI- silly I guess eileen > > > > > > > > hi all > > > > just curious if anyone has had this - it's happened once or twice before - I was fine, ate my reg food - felt D urgency and got overly hot weak fainting nausea etc - laid down, cooled off had a BM (formed lil D at end) -and then I'm ok - lil weak and nausea left but ok again > > > > thoughts???? > > > > thanks > > > > Eileen > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
this time i think is caused by hcl enzymes etc OR virus??? Guest guest
This sure sounds like my dad! He always complains about nausea after eating. He's almost completely given up meat at this point, and replaced it with more bread products. The opposite of what you're supposed to do, of course!
