Guest guest
Get your records. Go to whatever surgeon you choose. It could be that your screws/plates are moving, and that removing them would solve your troubles. I dunno. but I hope you find an easy fix. I'd leave out the bit about the office manager, when talking with the new surgeon -- your move is reason enough. Unless you really want to have the guy who put the stuff in have another look at it, which is legit, too. I'd still leave out the stuff about the office manager, and just say that you're the patient, and you're in trouble. It's up to the doc to care and tend to you, unless there's something else going on here. I doubt, though, that they can get the screws and plates out without surgery... I'm no pro. I just urge you to find one you can work with, and be candid about what your symptoms are. Best, C. > Hi everyone. I was active on this site 2+ years ago. I had surgery > August 5th of 2003. Guest guest
It sounds like (but I'm no expert either) that your hardware is causing some problems. That's not common to all of us, but it does happen. I had a work colleague who had problems with hardware in her leg over 2 years after her surgery (bad, bad infection). That's why you need to have it looked at right away. You don't want infection to set in. Having problems with your hardware doesn't mean you are relapsing, so I wouldn't worry about that unless you're told that's the case. As for having a permanently numb lower lip, almost 3 years is still too soon to make that judgement. My surgeon told me that it would take 5-7 years for full nerve recovery. After having lower wisdom tooth surgery which involved digging one tooth out of the bone (different surgeon, well before my orthognathic surgery), and suffering numbness in my lower lip from that, I can say this is true - I continued to have improvement in feeling after at least 5 years. I'd contact either your original surgeon or consult with a new one. I wouldn't necessarily be put off by the fact I'd had a bad experience with an office manager, that's not the person who performed the surgery. I had an ortho receptionist who was not the nicest person in the world, but we managed to work together. I really didn't have to have much contact with her, fortunately. I took her some baked goodies a few times, and that seemed to melt some of the ice. Don't wait too long to have this problem looked at, please! Hope that helps, > Hi everyone.
