Alisha,

Lamar here,

I congratulate you for your attitude. I am the same way. If they want to

look, measure, prick, prod, or shock me

and it has a possibility of helping future generations, I will not object.

I have had several NCV's and EMG's. I guess I am one of the lucky ones. I

do not know if it is due to me having decreased sensation, having a high

pain threshold, or me not minding electricity, but they are only slightly

uncomfortable to me. When they used a TENS on my back and an injured arm I

would turn it much higher to get relief. I don't doubt others when they say

they hurt a lot, but they are not the same to everyone, just as our other

symptoms differ. To me they are not nearly as bad a pain as having a tooth

filled when the local is wearing off, or having sutures put in without a

local.

Hi.. My Son has CMT also. He had a emg when he was 16 and the doctor put in

his file that it is suspected he has CMT. The doctor wanted to do more

testing fo confirm. But my son refused. I have CMT so we know he has it..has

all

the signs. But he didnt want it known that he had the disease. At that time,

it was because he was involved in sports in school and was afraid they

wouldnt let him play. He has fought CMT and will not give in to it and refuses

to

accept that he has it. He is 25 now. He has tremors in his hands and

fatigues easily. He works for a company that requires some physical strength

and he

feels, if they should find out that he has CMT they will find a reason to let

him go. So he tells no one. He also is afraid health insurance companies

will deny him benefits. Sad he has to protect himself this way. So for now,

that is his choice. Carol

Hi:

I have CD, and after hearing about what my symptoms

have been and how I've been feeling before and after

changing my diet, my sister has decided to get tested

as well. But for some strange reason, her doctor

doesn't seem to know how to administer the test, what

to look, how the test works, and it sounds like her

doctor doesn't really even know much about this

disease.

Would someone be willing to tell me how this blood

test works (I know they draw blood, but that's all I

can remember), what the doctor should be looking for,

requesting, etc.?

Thanks in advance,

Louise

Hi Pamela:

My allergist suggested Xolaire but didn't mention a blood test. I wondered

if it would be a good idea before committing to a shot. Is testing generally

done in other areas?

My respiroligist called me back and my IGE was 91 not

You have ti have an IGE level before starting Xolair. Allergy testing can also

be done by blood. Most allergists prefer skin testing. So, the only blood work

you have to have is the IgE test.

Thank you to evryone who replied to my post reguarding getting retested

for celiac. The information was helpful. Especially thanks to the

poster who gave the name of a gastro doctor in Vallejo. I will ask my

general doctor for a referral to see her. Has anyone here been food

allergy tested before the blood test? And do food allergies run

together with celiac or are they totally seperate things? That is what

got me started with a gluten free diet. A wheat and milk allergy was

discovered after headaches so bad that I had an MRI. I felt like a

whole new person that I never knew once I went gluten free. Thanks

again.
