Guest guest
Hi Jodi, Saw your post. We also had problems with Max (now 5 and maybe RSS but definitely SGA) wanting to chew things. The only protein we could get in him was vienna sausage (cringe!). When we finally got around to the dentist at around age 3 he discovered that Max's upper jaw was narrower than his lower jaw. His molars didn't meet in the back and it was physically painful for him to chew. A 'permanent' retainer was put in and 6 months later he was eating meat and enjoying it. We also have some sensory integration issues w/ Max, but more around gravity, not around food texture.
