Guest guest
Holly It all depends on your body [grin]. You may find that some foods can be eaten frequently, and some that have to be on rotation. Everyone is different, so you will have to see what your body tolerates. I found that when I started SCD I had to rotate all vegetables, but didn't have to worry about meats, fish, eggs, or fats. Dairy (yogurt and cheese) was one food group I had to avoid completely for the first 4 months (and never ate much of and now can't tolerate);I had to limit my fruits for several reasons; and didn't use honey in baking until my 4th year. Over the first year on SCD as my gut ecology improved I found that I could eat some veggies more often, so over time I had less and less vegetables that needed to be on rotation. Years later I still have to rotate two or three veggies, and had to stop trying to eat dairy. So I still have a few food sensitivities that just won't improve -- but major improvements overall, so I'm accepting of the limitations. There is no way to know for sure what your body will become sensitive to when it comes to eggs and/or dairy, or with any other food. Just pay attention to your body's signals, and if you start noticing an immune response (hives, respiratory distress, etc.) after a meal that includes dairy or eggs, and you're already rotating the other foods at the same meal, then you'll know where to start testing. Sometimes it is easier to just eat as much variety as possible each and every day, not repeating the foods for one or two or more days. Kim M. Guest guest
I'm sorry I can't help you. This would never work for me. I just try to eat different foods. So far, I haven't found anything I don't tolerate anymore because I ate too much of it. I have found that I tolerate some things that I didn't before though. A rotation diet sounds like a lot of added stress to an already complicated diet. (Well, it's a way of life for me now but the first year was tough. Since you are in your second year, it might not be that stressful like if you were a newby.) Misty Kimble CD - no meds SCD - Jan 2008 > > Is there anything that DOESN'T need rotated? Guest guest
Thanks everyone! I am a very regimented person, and any deviation from my usual schedule sends me into a tailspin. I kind of think that a rotation diet might give me the structure I need to up the variety in what I eat. My 2 main concerns for developing sensitivities are dairy and nuts. I have mild nasal drainage, and wonder if dairy could be the cause. It hasn't been bothersome enough for me to forgo my favorite high cal food (yogurt), but in the back of mind, I worry about it a bit. After not worrying about almonds for awhile, I'm back to worrying due to my tongue feeling just a little bit raw/burned/tingly the past few days. Maybe it's time to try out peanut butter. I haven't had any since way back pre-SCD, so maybe my supposedly mild allergy to it will be decreased.
