Is brachy considered a type of plagio?

Hi all,

My insurance company denied our claim for our son's helmet, and I am writing my

appeal letter right now (what a fun Friday night!). I'm stumbling a bit on my

wording because I'm not sure if brachycephaly is technically considered a type

of plagiocephaly, or are they separate terms all together. Some definitions of

plagiocephaly that I've seen include brachycephaly as a type of plagio, but not

all do this. Thank you!

My understanding is that brachy is not the same as plagio. However, I

have read that plagio babies often have some associated brachy. -Kathy

The thing to find out is how it is coded on the ICD codes that doctors use to submit for insurance. My pediatirican always referred to 's head as plagio, even though she knew it was actually brachy.
