Guest guest
Hello, Last year today at about 6:30 am est I walked into the Bariatric hopsital in Langhorne pa for open rny surgery. I weighed 494 lbs and was seriously a mess. My blood pressure was fairly high (I was taking 6 or 7 medications daily), I could not walk across the room without being out of breath, the shower and the bathroom were a nightmare for me and I was really tired of being sick and tired. A yeah later I now weigh 330 lbs (loss of 164 lbs) and take no medications for my blood pressure or otherwise. I wish I could say it was a perfect year, far from it (3 complications and 3 hospital stays), but I feel like my life has been given back to me. Today I am enjoying life LOTS! I walk a mile a day 3 to 5 days a week, dont sleep all the time and get up and go out and enjoy life! I have had some wonderful presents this last year, simple things like being able to fit in booths when going out to eat, able to cut my own toenails and put socks on, driving without having the steering wheel constantly rub against my stomach, the list goes on (As I am sure it does for most of us). It has also been a painful year too, the complications, being on disability for 3 months, saying good bye to a relationship, finding out my job is being eliminated in March of 2004. But I would not trade it for the world, I know it sounds clique but this surgery really has saved my life. I still have a long way (weigh - ha ha) to go though. My head still needs lots of work, I still fight and sometimes lose to the thinking I have had for so long. Sometimes I eat the wrong things, eat too much, think I have not lost enough, compare myself to others, am afraid that the surgery wont work long term for me..... and on and on....... Well I could go on and on, but I just wanted to say HI! I've been here lurking and reading for a while now and and glad to be able to celebrate my aniversery in part by posting here!
