Guest guest
I have yet to make pear sauce (though I plan to this fall), but applesauce freezes fine so I don't see why pearsauce wouldn't. If you try to freeze them I think I'd squeeze a couple of lemons so you can coat the outsides, again as you would with apples, so they don't turn brown. Why not just try freezing one and see what happens? I looked up on line about how to freeze pears... but it keeps saying that I have to make a syrup solution with sugar.... Do any of you know how they will keep if I just peal them and freeze them with out the syrup solution? I was give 3 bags full.. I cooked one into a pearsause.. But afraid the others will go bad before I can get to them.. If I go ahead and make a bunch of sause.. Does that freeze well???
Guest guest
Hi, on the subject of pears, I tried making pear sauce and it turns out grainy, so I didn't eat it. How would one make it not grainy or do I need a vita-mix to make it smooth? Thanks!
Guest guest
I cook it way longer then the book says and it gets smoother.. and if it is grainy that means it is the canning pears... Those are way sweeter then the baking ones...I much rather the flavor then apple To: "BTVC-SCD " <BTVC-SCD >Sent: Sun, September 12, 2010 8:33:57 AMSubject: Re:freeze pears Hi, on the subject of pears, I tried making pear sauce and it turns out grainy, so I didn't eat it. Guest guest
Why not just whiz it in the blender? That might smooth it out and you wouldn't have to race off and get a FP immediately. But I do boil them for a long time... pour out the water.. while hot i pour honey and lots of cinnamin and then run in through the blender.. I find it sweeter then apples.. Guest guest
I did run it through the food processor, but it still felt really grainy. I am afraid to eat anything with seeds, so I just decided not to eat it. I just thought it should be more of the apple sauce consistency. Shouldn't it?
