Kim,

I am so glad you are home, safe and sound. It's amazing that you did

not have a huge delay at the airport. The wind was so bad in my

school district that we heard sirens for over 2 hours this morning.

Apparently the wind kept knocking down trees and wires and setting off

fires all over the place. It was amazing, distracting and scary.

Then we got a note from the principal that the electricity would be

turned off in our school at some point in the afternoon. Ugh. What a

day.

But it does not compare to yours - or the past 6. I'm thankful that

you posted your phone number and some of us were able to call you and

offer support. And leave it to Dr. H. to stand out in that storm and

get a taxi for you.

Now you and get that much needed rest and recovery.

Kim,

Hey. I am very surprised to hear that you guys are home already. I

was wanting to call you yesterday again, but I was sooooo busy and by

the time I would have had a chance, it was after 9 pm. I wasn't sure

even if you were still in the hospital or what.

I am so glad that you guys were able to get home. I am sorry to hear

it was such a crazy rush to the airport and to the plane. I am sure

you weren't able to take a breath until after you were seated in the

seats. And, with you and both having breathing problems and

all that running around, I am sure that wasn't fun. But, at least

you are in the comforts of your own home and hopefully both of you

are on the road to recovery. Sorry it has been such a lousy week for

you.

Take care and feel better soon,

Jodi R.

I am glad you made it home Kim. I will be in New York to see Dr.

Harbison with my son . We have an appointment on Monday. Does

anybody else have an appointment on that day? I am using Mercy

Medical to fly to New York. There are a few agencies that will help

fly you to New Yor,k that I have contacted. National Patient Travel

Help line (800)296-1217 was very helpful to find me different

agencies I could contact. I spoke with . She was so nice. Kim,

that is one alternative you could use to fly to New York. I am also

writing to get feedback from anyone. 's dad doesn't understand

that is not like other kids. is not a great eater. He

has his good days and his bad. He is 7yrs old and weighs 32 lbs. We

had him up to almost 35 lbs. Lately his teacher is not following

through with his snacks. Dad buys any kind of ice cream instead of

Haagan Daas which has twice the calories. Today he said the reason

he lost weight is all my fault. I love my son very much and I feel I

do everything I can to help him gain weight. When eats his dad

yells at home if he doesn't eat fast or only eats a small amount. I

told him yelling will not make him eat nor forcing him to eat. I

encourage to eat. I feel that smaller amounts of food only his

plate at a time is better than too much. He gets overwhelmed if

there is alot he has to eat. Dad feels at his age he should eat a

larger amount. I let him eat small amounts and then try to give him

more or wait awhile and then give him something else. He tells

that he will always be the smallest kid in the class unless he eats.

might wind up being the smallest kid even if he eats. How can

I show him that the things he says and does are hurtful and are not

helping. He always pushed pancakes and waffles to the point that

hates them. Dad says so what, make him eat them. I try to

find alternatives for food that he likes to encourage him to like to

eat. Help I need your advice. Does anyone else have these

problems. It hurts when 's dad thinks that I am the cause of my

child losing weight. How much food do you put on their plate at a

time? Do you offer seconds instead of pushing it all at once on

them? I want him to read your comments. Maybe I'm wrong the way I

feed him. I don't force him to eat. Dad says I baby him. We give

him the a shake every night with the lower calorie ice cream.

Thanks,

Kathy (-7yrs)

Kim - I know you have been home a few days now - but, I'm so glad

that ordeal is over with for you. What a difficult time you

endured - and I'm so sorry you had to go through all that. I hope

by now you are feeling a little better and things are going a little

more smoothly at home. I have lot's more posts to read - but, I'm

hoping somewhere along the line I will read an update on how your

final appointment with Dr. H went and how things are going

otherwise. Take Care. Still thinking of you.
