Guest guest
Jacque, yes you CAN request a sugar free cheese cake. It's your darned party! And if anyone questions it, tell them you are ALLERGIC to sugar. Well, you are. I've been " allergic " to a lot of things in my life. If it does bad things to my body, then I am allergic to it. You can count my ex-husband and working among those allergies. <VBG> Jac http://www.pictureitdigitaldesigns.com/ http://members.cox.net/XXXFARMPAINTS mail to: jholdaway@... Well...what can I say...after all...my name was on the cake.. literally! Could I say no? Yes....Did I say no? NO! Had 20 good friends there, and had my piece of cake...and proceeded to dump as I have never dumped before. Ended up horizontal on my friend's couch. Did I learn a lesson? Probably NOT. Sheesh...why do we do these things to ourselves? Oh well...I have 364 days to figure this one out...and my next possible anniversary cake. Is it rude to request a sugar free cheese cake instead? I made one for my friends a couple of weeks ago...and it went over big! Guess maybe I'll make my own anniversary cake next year. Four more years to our 50th, and how do you avoid the goodies on a 50th wedding anniversary? Well...I'll just worry about today...and what I did and how it affected me.. and move on from here. Guest guest
LOL! I've always told people I'm allergic to sugar...I break out in fat every time I eat it! They just smile...and feed me anyway....my stupid mouth seems to be always open! No ex-hubbies here...so thankfully no allergies in that department. Regards~ Jacque -- Anniversary cake...ugh! Guest guest
This subject line reminded me of a cute story ... which I know my friend will not mind me sharing. In the early 80's I had gone to OA and was doing quite well. My friend was maintaining a large weight loss, great abstinence and was celebrating 3 years of abstinence and weight 100 pound weight loss. Her mother was (an admitted compulsive overeater herself) was coming to the meeting to hear her daughter speak and share her story. To celebrate her daughter's recovery she wanted to surprise her and brought a huge cake ... daughter's favorite flavor to go with the tea after the meeting. Luckily our whole group had a great sense of humor. Politely, many took a slice home to hubby or kids. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
How funny. It's like bringing a keg of beer to celebrate 3 years of sobriety. Kind of defeats the purpose. I am glad that the group had a good sense of humor. Guest guest
i had a funny similar thing. i wanted to celebrate my year anniversary from rny and the great success i have had. so i told my husband i really wanted to do something special and see if he had any ideas. he made reservations for my favorite restaurant and a show (ie food and sitting) i looked at him and smiled and said think about it somemore, we are celebrating our complete lifestyle change. now our celebration is a hike and picnic, bike ride, afternoon nap with benefits, dinner and dancing now that is the new way to celebrate. and he got it! janice Re: Anniversary cake...ugh! Guest guest
NO! Put your order in for your 50th, NOW! Sorry to hear you got sick at your own party. That sucks. Just remember that old song from the 60's: " It's my party and I'll eat what I want to, eat what I want to, eat what I want to.... Guest guest
Ahhh, poor mom! This reminds me of something my beloved hubs did years back. I still tease him about it. I was a smoker back then, not surprisingly a 3 pack a day-er, and he was on my ass constantly to quit. And I was big to boot, not a healthy combination. So amidst all this chastising and pleading to give up the cancer sticks, what does he bring me home for Christmas????? A HUGE TABLEMODEL MARBLE CIGARETTE LIGHTER! It must have weighed about 10 lbs, it was ENORMOUS. And HIDEOUS! I laughed like hell! After I thought about clunking him over the head with it! LOLOLOLOL! And believe it or not that was NOT the worst gift he ever gave me. Now I pick out whatever I want, it works MUCH better this way LMAO! PS I eventually quit smoking about 20 years ago. Now if only I could give up the satanic chocolate!
