Guest guest
-Clare - Sounds like you are having a LeFort 3-piece; it's also sometimes known as a " Reconstruction Midface, LeFort I " and " LeFort I Maxillary Osteotomy " . The neck bruising seen in those pictures is common with lower jaw surgery, and I do believe that there is some bruising with the upper surgery as well. The skin changes colors as the bruising progresses from new to healing. The colors indicate the presence of blood under the skin; at first the bruising looks bluish- red, and as time progresses and the body breaks down and absorbs the blood, the color changes to greenish-yellow then brownish. The bruising also moves down, from face to jaw to neck to chest. As for how soon you can return to school, your surgeon can give you a pretty good idea of the recovery time frame. Good luck! ~~ Diane :^(_-) -- In orthognathicsurgerysupport , " claresaysaysno " <clare.creelman@g...> wrote: > Hey all, > > I am having upper jaw surgery, and I'm not even sure if there is a > technical name for it, or if anyone else here has had this procedure: > i am having the roof of my mouth split in three, and the palate > expanded.
