Hi,

For me, it was a question of time - it becomes easier and easier to chew, you

" just " have to practice.

I ate over-boiled pasta, mashed potatoes, very soft bread, ... And started by

eating very small pieces at a time. It takes some weeks to train chewing but it

does get better with practice.

Hope you find my info useful (And understand my english - I am Danish)

Take care,

Hello again,

I am now almost 4 weeks post-op and my doctor gave me the go ahead

last week to start chewing. I have tried a little mashed potatoes but

finding it difficult. What other foods can I try. Is rice a bad

idea? Do I have to keep trying to chew for it to get easier? Please

give me some ideas!

I found rice a very good option - risottos were very yummy! Scrambled

eggs with cheese melted in them was also a good option. Other options

were watermelon, papaya mushed up. The main thing is to get stuff that

is not too sticky like mashed potatoes which tend to stick to your

palet and are tiring to eat. Cottage cheese was also a very good meal

with mushed up tuna. The more you chew the easier it does get but it's

very tiring at first so take it easy. I promise it will get better.

Make yourself some puddings too like chocolate pudding to cheer

yourself up!
