Guest guest
Guess I get to join the " no gallbladder " club. Going in Tue to get it yanked out. They are doing it on an outpatient basis. Any suggestions on what I can expect? Doc, nurses, pre-surgery clinic are all very nonchalant and don't see it as a big deal. Doing it lap. I swear that this one scares me more than the other 3 major surgeries that I have had. Maybe because everyone is so cool about such a " routine " surgery that they can screw up by not paying attention like they would on something more major? I am begining to feel like the old Hee Haw song...ya know? The one that says " You took off your peg leg, your wig and your glass eye. And you were supprised at the look on my face. I wanted to hug you and kiss you my darlin'; but you was scattered all over the place. " All prayers appreciated! Love, Reba
Guest guest
I had mine done lap on October 23, a Thursday, at noon. Out of the OR by 2:30 (the doc wanted to look around at the aftermath of my lap DS over two years ago and cut away any adhesions, etc., so it took longer than the canonical 1-hour. I was awake by about 6:00 PM, and they told me that I could go home then, if I wanted, but I was also eligible to stay overnight ( " outpatient " meant 23 hours or less from the time that the surgery ended). I chose to stay overnight, and the recovery room nurse said that he fully supported my choice. By 8:30 PM, I was up and around, and a bit after midnight, I was walking the long halls handing out candy at several nursing stations, because nobody was coming into my room to get it. The next morning, the bulb burned out in the light fixture over the sink in my bathroom, and I removed it and took it to the nursing station to get a fresh one. We left about 11:00 AM on Friday for home, and we stopped at a Vietnamese restaurant for some pho (soup) on the way home. So, as operations go, it was no biggie, more like a root canal, except that I was asleep during the procedure. To make things even better, the doc made three of his four stabs through my existing tummy tuck anchor incision scar, and only made only one new half-inch incision just above my waist by my side. I can no longer see the scars in my anchor incision, and the little one near my side is fading from sight. Hope yours is equally as uneventful. --Steve At 4:07 PM +0000 12/20/03, shrinkin2000 wrote: >Guess I get to join the " no gallbladder " club. Going in Tue to get >it yanked out.
