Yep, read around in the posts on this site and on OSS2. You might also

try an archive search on " gummy. "

And beware: There's a fellow who " wrote " a book about the surgery and

advertises it on these sites. There have been reports that it doesn't

offer much, and is quite expensive. When Fiddlesticks asked for a

review copy, with a promise to post about it on site 2, he did not

respond. Several people who did buy it have posted that they were

disappointed.

The fact that he advertises on the sites doesn't mean that the people

who run the sites endorse his book. Just a warning.

Hi Ann,

Have you checked out the before and after pics on this site? These

are patient posted, not OS posted pics, so they are of real people

with real results. It should give you a pretty good idea.

And go back in the posts for a few days or weeks. You will find a

huge array of topics explored just from peoples daily expereiences.

There are people here at all levels of the process - people searching

info, getting consults, getting braces, preop setups, having the

surgery, just post op, and our well healed surgery vets!

There is a lot of info to get you going. Not just about the surgical

procedures available (there are a multitude of techniques and types of

procedures, and even more variations that each OS uses). It may take

some time for you to get a good feel about this, but it is time very

well spent. Good luck with your research!

Hugs,

Fran

I think I know the book that you are speaking of and was debating on

buying it. Thanks for the warning.

and came across a website that has some before and after pictures - I

hope they are helpful. The website is:
