Guest guest
I had a severly gummy smile before having upper jaw surgery 3 months ago. Luckily I only had to have my upper done. I had a 1 piece Lefort, my surgeon took 5.5 mm of bone out of my jaw and lifted it up. If you want, you can check my pics out in the photos section under mjlewis23. I haven't taken any recent pictures, but I am very pleased with the result. If you want to see the pre-op ones a little closer up, email me and I can send you the full size versions. I think the surgery did improve the way I look when I smile. I'm glad my gum tissue is no longer red and inflamed anymore. I also like my profile much more too. Aside from that, I don't think I look all that different. I think the surgery was a subtle change, but definitely a good one. > I have a gummy smile and I'm (thinking) of having both upper and lower > jaw surgery. Guest guest
Hi, I also had the gummy smile and a protruding upper jaw. The OS cut some of the bone out of my jaw and pushed the jaw backward a little bit during the surgery on this Wednesday. It looks really nice now besides the swelling after the surgery. It worths doing it. Ummm... I don't have pictures...Sorry. Irene > > I have a gummy smile and I'm (thinking) of having both upper and > lower > > jaw surgery. Guest guest
I had a gummy smile as well, plus an open bite. I had 4mm of jaw removed from the front and 6mm from the back. You can see in my pictures, my teeth in the front didn't touch and I showed a lot of gum tissue when I smile. My last pictures show my teeth now closed, and showing almost all teeth, no gums. I also had a leforte 1. It wasn't that bad. I was back to work in 2.5 weeks, and up and about in just a couple days. See my pics here. If you look at the first and last group of pics, you can see the difference. I still need some ortho work to finish things up. http://www.therayfamily.org/jawsurgery/JawSurgery.html > I have a gummy smile and I'm (thinking) of having both upper and lower > jaw surgery.
