Reba, could you include a letter from a lawyer in your next appeal?

Also, I'm a firm believer in calling your Congress person. In a

situation like this, head right for the big guns. That's what

they're there for. They want your vote and, often, one phone call

from them is all it takes. It's worth a shot, and like you said,

this is life threatening.

Reba,

You need to get your congress person and your state insurance commissioner

involved. I would request a live appeal and SHOW THEM how the skin is causing

problems (I have a friend who recently did this and won - it was not as serious

as your son's issue - it was a breast lift).

Is there an exclusion in your policy? If not, can you get documentation

of yeast infections, kidney infections, wound care for diabetic sores or

from the insulin injection site, etc. I am wanting to have the excess

skin removed from my thighs. My plastic surgeon wants me to loose some

more weight first but stated that he needs some information for medical

necessity. He needs to know what treatments have been done for the yeast

infections, what medications I have taken, how this has effected my basic

living skills (ie bathing, cooking, sleeping, ability to get dressed,

exercising, etc) and how long this has been going on. In my case, I have

had problems with yeast infections and diabetic sores behind my knees

since 2000. My plastic surgeon even asked me if I had ever had surgery

done behind my knees. I said know that the scars he was seeing was the

result of diabetic sores that took almost a year to heal. Hope this

information helps.
