wow! this is an excellent article/speech! Thank you, Marilyn, so much for all of

your support and advise that you have so patiently and eagerly given. It has

been such a huge help for me and I am sure many other people. Also, thank you

for everyone else on the board for the questions, many of which I wondered about

my self, and the personal experiences that so many of you have shared. Thanks

again, Kylie

You're a gem, Marilyn.

I can't thank you, and the other veteran SCDers, for continuing to help us heal.

I have been on SCD for over 3 months and have seen a miracle occur in my guts

:-)

This was me last Christmas, 2009.

I wanted to join over 300 women learning to sing Christmas carols for a big

pre-Christmas performance.

I turned up to the first practice.

Women were jammed together cheek to jowl.

There wasn't room to move.

But, strangely, slowly, women began to move away from me.

I noticed out of the corner of my eye, that women on both sides of me, in front

and behind, began to clear a six foot radius around me.

I was the only woman with space around her. I stood all alone in a hall full of

women.

Why? You can all guess I am sure.

My uncontrollable, very, very, smelly flatulence was unbearable for those women,

as it was for me. But, I couldn't get away from myself.

Needless to say, I didn't go to any more Christmas Carol practices.

I became even more isolated and more severely depressed as a result of my IBS.

But now, the Happy News! 3 months into SCD and I am planning to go to

Christmas carol practice 2010 - I can because of SCD.

I no longer have such socially unacceptable smelly episodes. I am no longer

depressed.

I am happy and heading towards health all because of SCD, because of Elaine, and

because of you wonderful SCD veterans.

I can't thank you enough.

What an eloquent speech, Marilyn. I'm usually one to skim through most posts for

time efficiency, but your speech definitely kept me engaged throughout the whole

piece.

Thanks for all the work you put in to this list and answering questions. I'd be

totally lost without the list, really bored with my foods, and making a lot more

mistakes.

Thank you to everyone who participates. I feel new still having been on the diet

for almost 7 months and feel like I have a lot to learn, so I don't usually feel

qualified answering questions. Hopefully I'll get there. I appreciate this list

and this community. You guys rock!!

Thank you Marilyn for being a guiding light for us and for your

clear and concise answers to our (endless) questions. I appreciate you and I

especially appreciate that you stick to your SCD guns. Your advice is always

right on.

And Happy 3rd Birthday to BTVC-SCD!

And my thanks to all of the SCD community, you folks willing to

share experiences and what works for you (and what doesn’t!).

I am ever so glad I found this SCD community! I always learn

something!

There's a saying that it takes a village to

raise a child.

I think this could be paraphrased to say, " It takes a community to heal a

person. "

When I began SCD in 2001, people from the Long Island List (then the primary

and, as far as I know, only SCD list) gave generously of their time to help me

learn what I needed to know in order to implement SCD in my daily life, and in

order to heal. I cannot pay those folks back -- they've moved on from SCD lists

because they've healed, and they're getting on with Real Life.

What I have chosen to do is what a writer-friend of mine calls, " Paying

forward. " Teaching those who come after you what you were taught. That's

why, when Turet decided to retire, I opened BTVC-SCD. We're three years

old now.

Hi Marilyn,

Like a proud member of the family- your post made my eyes swell and my throat

tickle. I find it deeply moving just how incredible this SCD spirit is.

I am so thankful to you and everyone.. Elaine G, Dr's Haas for opening up the

world to me. Giving of their life for my/our healing and our benefit. What a

gift!

I am so deeply thankful towards myself that I took and continually take the SCD

dive that enables me to soar and live a little.

I am so thankful that I have embraced this utterly.

Your time never goes by unnoticed by me..

This post *perfectly* demonstrates just how awesome you are!!

Happy birthday to us! YAY!

Are we officially out of our terrible 2's?

I get a crazy image of that commercial a few years back of a toddler going

cuckoo on his walker running through the house.. LOL's..

With deep appreciation..

Jodi

Glad you liked it, Kylie.

I remember how much help the Long Island list was to me when I was

starting... we're paying forward!

One can hope!

It's an amazing legacy, from Dr. Haas' research, to Elaine's research and

determination to help people, to Turet's list, and now to

BTVC-SCD.

Amber,

I'm glad you liked it. And yes, community makes doing this diet so much

easier. THe sum of the parts is greater, and all that. Each of us

has something to offer.

Wonderful speech, very well spoken. I think you are

awesome!!

Actually, I've been working on said cook book. Or books. It goes

slower than I wish. <g> Our dinner tonight was quite simple:

uncured ham roast slice and broccoli florets!

Glad you liked it. I could have made it longer, but they gave me a time

limit.
