I actually got a lot of movement with the first week or two. I don't

know about you, but even before my braces were put on my teeth often

felt " loose " . They had a tiny bit of wiggle to them. I think this is

because of my assymetry, it seemed to get progressively worse, and my

teeth were in a way moving with my jaw. That is great though that

your teeth are moving that quickly. It sounds like you'll have an

easier time of it. My teeth have moved quickly, and after my first

couple of visits with my ortho, the adjustments no longer were

uncomfortable. My husband has a cousin who's teeth don't easily

move. She's in pain for about a week after each adjustment and she's

had braces on for about 4 years. Plus, when your teeth move that

quickly you start seeing amazing results within the first couple of

months. It makes it so much easier to keep your eye on the prize.

-Connie - Thank you for confirming that movement is very possible in

the first week of ortho. I've been in braces five days and my teeth are

still hurting, but that's a " good " hurt and I intend on keeping

positive thoughts so my teeth keep on moving along. My OD told me that

I will see results on a continuous basis and to keep the positivity

going. He told me that he's had patients who moved really fast and were

ready for their surgery sooner: I hope that will be my case! Thank you

again! ~~~~~ Diane-- In

-Hello Connie - Congratulations on your splint removal - you've been

looking forward to that for quite a while, and soon you will be free (well,

almost - splint out now, braces out soon after?). Thank you for

mentioning my upcoming surgery; I wish mine was more upcoming but I

guess I will just have to be patient until next June. LOL. - I think you

have me confused with the Diane from Oregon. I've been in braces for

just six weeks, although it has felt alot longer! LOL. Anyway, thanks for

all the info about the splint as I will be getting one of those delightful

devices when I undergo my BSSO with probable LeFort 1-piece. My

teeth continue to move like crazy - it would be nice if my surgery could

be moved up to the Spring. I go back to my OMS in December for

another consult of sorts. He says he will be able to decide if I will

definitely need the LeFort after he studies another set of xrays and

takes some more measurements. This waiting is killing me - I hate

having all this up in the air. I hope he says I need it, as I don't want to

go thru all this just to acquire a new problem. He says if only the BSSO

is done, my tongue will be too long for my mouth, as he will be

shortening my mouth by an estimated 7 mm. If both the BSSO and

LeFort are done, my mouth won't be shortened as much so I won't have

a problem with my tongue. He says he will also have a better idea of

when the surgery will be done based on how well my teeth have aligned

themselves in my arch. Yes, I wish I was the Diane from Oregon - I'd

be closer to having this done! Well, take care. ~~ Diane (Idaho)-- In

Hi Connie - Thank you for your continued support and kind words. My

OMS says he will wait until just before the surgery to get the

precise measurements for my surgery, but feels he will definitely

know in Dec. if my surgery will include the LeFort procedure. He says

that once he decides what's needed, he rarely changes his mind. He

also told me that he will tell me in Dec. what all this will cost me,

including the hospital. All that is based on the procedures

performed. He says he knows that I need to finally know all that. I

trust him completely and know he will take very good care of me.~~~
